Puffballs kissed by golden sun,
small fluffy shapes having fun,
floating up with greatest ease,
gently drifting on the breeze,
blown by the wind, they fly high
floating up and drifting by
rivers, gardens, trees and lakes,
ghostly shapes grey and opaque.
Suddenly the wind has changed
small puffballs are rearranged,
falling quickly from up high
a million parachutes
rain from the darkening sky,
many sink into the ground
where next year they will be found,
golden heads raised to the sun,
waiting, waiting, for more fun.
