A little background:

February 2007

A little background:

After some of the noiseness of some of my recent

Interviews, here is a little more softer from

The lovely French singer, Adeline who

Kind of reminded me a French Kate Bush meets

Bjork with a dose of the excellent French singer

Camille thrown in also – in other words a highly

Original young singer songwriter who I found

It to difficult to compare but easy to enjoy.

I first came across Adeline through some

Of my usual stumbling through myspace.com

Where through stumbling my friend Anthony

Aka July Skies’s page and then stumbling

Through another page then two I came across

Adeline’s page and was really impressed by

What I heard, which really, really charmed

Me and instantly struck me as a act ‘Setting Sun’

Must interview.

Of course, an e mail duely followed and the

Interview then followed shortly after.

Thanks to Adeline for the interview.

Good luck with your acting!

Cheers

Setting Sun:

How are things and what's happening at

the moment?

Adeline:

I'm very tired because I'm on tour with a theatre play, I travel a lot

in France, it's quite enjoyable!!And also at the same time I am

working with my musicians because I've got a show very soon!

Setting Sun:

Next, can you tell us a little bit

about what started you off in music

or as I like to say sometimes who fired

the starting pistol etc?

Adeline:

I've learned classic piano for 12 years, then I stopped because

I was in a high school and had no time to work the piano

anymore.I wonder how I could go on playing the piano, it

was too bad to let it down!I had always loved french songs

and had written one or two texts, but I thought I was not

able to compose...one day, when I was 18,I put my hands

on my piano,I tried, and it worked!!!

Setting Sun:

What are your influences at the moment

and what are you listening to at the moment

(music wise that is of course)

Adeline:

My influences are Kate Bush, Sting, William Sheller,

Bjork, Alain Souchon. Now I'm listening to Perry Blake,

Pauline Croze,Fauve...

Setting Sun:

I have being really enjoying your songs

available for download on myspace.com at the

moment in particular - Eb Avril at

the moment - can you tell us a little bit

more about that song out of interest?

Adeline:

I wrote "en avril" in 2001.I was in a perfect moment,

I was in love, I was happy, it was the spring (my favourite

season), everything was inspiring me love, tenderness, soft

feelings! And this song is about a love story.

Setting Sun:

Also really cool to see you play concerts

on a regular basis - how do these compare

to your recordings - is their one you prefer

over the other?

Adeline:

my concerts are a little more "pop" than my records,

a little less intimist, I love them both!!!

Setting Sun:

What's next for you? Do you have many

more gigs lined up / perhaps even some

more recordings?

Adeline:

I am going to go on acting in a theatre play called

"the browning's version", and I'm gonna look

for some distributor/label.I am surely going to write new songs,

I need some!!!

Setting Sun:

I know you are from France already but

What's the music scene like there nowadays?

Have you being to any good gigs recently?

Adeline:

In france we have all sorts of musics, and many

places to play!!!I would say ELECTRO is influencing

many many artists nowadays, and it's great! anglo-saxon

music is a major influence too.You can see also many

boring french singers, with a lot of words but bad music,

it's called "chanson à textes" pouah!you can hear the best

and the worse, like in any country- I think?

Setting Sun:

Anyway, a few less serious questions to

finish off with, firstly, what would you

be your dream job if you were not a rock

and roll star?

Adeline

I'd love to be a GREAT actress (I'm an actress,

But I do not work very often) I'd love to act in a MOVIE!!

Or I would have love to be a photographer

Setting Sun:

What would you like to be doing when

you are 60?

Adeline:

I'd like to care of my grandchildren, take pictures,

paint, sing, act, EVERYTHING!

Setting Sun:

What will you be doing when you

are 60?

Adeline:

Well well...I think I will be singing and writing and

taking pictures and acting and taking care of my

grandchildren!!! (-:
