  • WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Learn To Swim, Evanston, IL - Swim Instructor, Lifeguard & Assistant Manager
  • A program provided by Evanston Township High School where I was a swim instructor and lifeguard. I was in charge of creating schedules and teaching plans. We often ran into concerns by parents and the instructors and I had to find solutions that would accommodate all our requests and needs. This job required creative planning, time management, patience, and frequent problem solving.

  • Baker Demonstration School, Wilmette, IL - Swim Instructor and Lifeguard
  • Baker Demonstration School offered a summer program to their students. Three days out of the week, the children were provided with swim lessons. When I was teaching, I was in charge of creating these lesson plans. As a lifeguard, it was my job to enforce pool rules. Often, many kids had trouble respecting the rules and patience was required in order to communicate effectively. This job required interpersonal skills, problem solving, boundary setting, and empathy.

  • Noodles & Company, Evanston, IL - Cook & Cashier
  • This job gave me the most experience with communication. As a cashier, I had to attend to the needs of the customers as well as greeting them with a warm welcome. I was in charge of explaining the menu, as well as helping customers choose a dish they would enjoy. The cashier position also required taking orders on the phone, setting pick-up times for catering orders, as well as making phone calls to customers who might have placed a confusing order. This required great communication skills as well as efficiency. As a cook, our promise to our customers is that their food would be ready in 7 minutes. Often, it was my job to prepare several plates at once.

  • Personal Baby-sitter, Evanston, IL - Babysitter & Tutor
  • I was a babysitter and tutor for two children; one boy (9) and one girl (7). The boy I babysat for had several learning special needs as well as mental disorders. I had to have great listening skills as well as finding solutions to sudden complications.

  • Receptionist, Skokie, IL
  • Being a receptionist has taught me a new set of skills than any of my previous occupations. My daily responsibilities consist of: answering phones, scheduling, checking family's in, scanning medical documents, prepping forms for visits, validating insurances, & billing. This job is very demanding but it has taught me multi-tasking skills, communication, flexibility, prioritization, & responsibility.
