Rob:             The Green Man’s eyes are coal black and glistening. Around him is snow, but he is green still. Firs and holly make up his face. His mouth is a dark hole, an entrance to things not yet seen, but will be soon. The land is snow clad, and the tree line is hazy with cloud, but suddenly all the twigs are clearly defined.

Barry:          Ours backs are pressed to the Maypole, which provides warmth and comfort in the cold.

Rob:             The Maypole represents an important focal point. The energies centre on the Maypole and radiate from it. I can discern ten lines from it, each circles out and passes through one of the ten stones and out into the forest. Coming in are other energy lines which centre on the Maypole. The energy here has not been interfered with by man.

Barry:          A figure emerges from the cave. It is a pubescent girl wearing a white robe, which looks very thin for the weather. At her shoulder sits a raven, his eyes match those of the Green Man. She leads us to the cave. Inside it is cramped

Rob:             There is a small fire in the centre. She burns wood to make charcoal which she draws with.

Barry:          She draws spider web patterns that radiate from a point.

Rob:             She takes my hand and places it on the centre of one of the webs. Her hand is cold. The raven hops to the floor, spreads its wings and suddenly becomes a charcoal drawing. At the same time, the web becomes a hole, which grows larger so that we can go through. It has sunlight and green trees. This is her magic, she can open pathways.

There is a sense of great age here. The trees are old and strong with white bark. They are a species not known to me. There are ten of them in a circle. In the centre of the circle is a large flower, it’s petals are iridescent. The flower is metallic at the centre, and a golden glow comes from a mound of crystals.

Barry:          The girl takes me by the hand. Her hand is cold like that of an old woman.

Rob:             How I first saw her, she is actually both. There is no time for her for she is all time.

I can see a deer with massive antlers; a fox; a badger; a boar; a bull; a kestrel; a salmon, and an owl.

Barry:          I stand in a field surrounded by the animals. The field is littered with the dead. The winds howl, and the smell of smoke is close. I have a spear in my hand. One by one the animals push close to me. The wind bites and tears at my clothes.

Rob:             In the centre of the flower I am wearing leather and seated on a black horse. I wear a sword hung from a belt, but have no shield. On my head is a leather helmet that has eye slits to see through. I am at the edge of the field and see you in the centre.

Barry:          The wind is not an enemy. I haven’t yet learnt to use the power of the animals to help me resist being blown. The girl stands unmoved by the wind. She is now old. The animals are now inside me. I can feel their power. I see you.

Rob:             I am borrowing this form very briefly. I see through the eyes of a warrior, the fierce man who owns this land. He has come to the circle to be guided by the old woman and is seeing through another’s eyes, as I am seeing through his. Now I am in the centre of the circle, and he gives a salute.

Barry:          I feel that he has learnt to master inner power. I feel I am afraid to use power and that I shy away from the wind.

Rob:             I fear megalomania. I feel power in me and it’s potential, and fear being seduce by it. But we have a firm foundation. We have not built a tower of Babel. Honesty and true humility are needed. We are masters of this land and created it, but it exists outside of us. We still have much to do in this temple and must continue these journeys.

Barry:          The woman tells me that I am not yet properly named, and that is why I still lack solidity. I feel the spear is important in the naming, I must seek the spear. The name is the final thing. I am back in the cave. I have the tattoo of a spear on my right shoulder.

Rob:             I am standing in the stone circle with the Maypole at my back. I feel solid and strong. I am wearing a rough fur cloak.

Barry:          I am with you. We are dressed as warriors in the furs of the animals we have hunted,

Rob:             On each hand we bear a circle of swirling lines.
