Jessica Taylor Age: 22 From: Preston Favourite Artist: The Supremes Jessica has been performing since she could walk but realised that she wanted to follow a career in music when she started secondary school. The music teacher heard her singing and encouraged her to start performing in school plays. She moved onto to play musical leads with the biggest amateur theatre group in Preston and was then talent-spotted by a semi-professional company touring the northwest performing songs from musicals. She was soon travelling around the North West performing solos. She appeared at the London Palladium singing "Swallows" songs from "Whistle Down The Wind" at the "Make A Wish" charity night. Jessica had also been a successful student and had been offered only one of seven places at an Oxford University to study English. Sadly, she missed the opportunity by one grade but Oxford's loss was our gain. Jessica decided that if she couldn't go to Oxford then she didn't want to go to university but instead became even more focused on her main dream - to perform. Prior to Liberty Jess had always written poetry and loved to sing over the top of songs on the radio creating her own counter melodies but she'd never consciously sat down and wrote music or considered that she might have a talent for it until she began writing with the band. 'it's the best feeling in the world to hear something that you've helped write played back to you because you know how it started off, you know each step of the process'. The thing that Jessica looks forward to most is to be walking down the street and hear someone singing one of Liberty X's songs.
