Brad Pitt (LEGENDS OF THE FALL) and Academy Award-nominee Morgan Freeman (THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION) star in this sinister and gripping mystery-thriller about a pair of homicide detectives who must solve a puzzling series of horrific murders based on the seven deadly sins - Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Lust, Envy and Wrath. A powerful and unforgettable film, Se7en reveals the dark and disturbing underworld in which evil stalks.

The Film
*MILD SPOILERS*
At first glance, this seems nothing special. Dark in David Fincher's style, but not in the same tone as Fight Club. There's no comedic value whatsoever here. If anything, it's closer to Alien3, but much much better. I don't particularly like this type of film, but this one grabbed me by the throat. It's a good film, but what makes it special is when John Doe (Kevin Spacey) arrives on the scene. His character makes some undeniable references, that go some way to justifying his actions, and agree with him to a large extent. The blurb describes it as 'unforgettable'. The end alone proves that, but other incidents also proove it to be horrific. Watch it and see.
Film: 9/10

The DVD
Quite a lot here. Four commentaries on Disc 1, and 'enough to warrant a second disc, but only just' on Disc 2. The extras are interesting for the most part, but they do tend to go on a little. Best of all though is the alternative endings, which are just awful and cheesy. Had they used them in the actual film, it wouldn't have been nearly as good.
