Several subjects have shown impressively accelerated healing abilities. These abilities range from light cuts healing overnight to puncture wounds healing within minutes. The mechanism behind this is still unknown, though evidence points to an imbalance of certain proteins in the bloodstream. Without further experiments, this cannot be tested.
A perfected system to measure this skill has yet to be designed, however, a method does exist. This requires that a radioactive isotope be injected or ingested by the subject. A subject with this ability will release the substance into the environment via exhalation or perspiration. One hour later, the subject is tested for what quantities of the isotope remain. The amount is then compared to the half-life curve for that substance. Out of seven test subjects, the median is 2*10^-1, which corresponds to the ability to regenerate a .45 caliber gunshot wound within an hour, shown by subject 'Corvid'. The highest on record, as off 1/10/02, is 5*10^-6, which allowed the subject to recover from a similar injury within seconds.
This ability is not limited to simple wounds. Subjects have been known neutralize toxins and to metabolize otherwise deadly poisons without difficulty. Others can regenerate radiation damage, while another was recorded rebuilding a major internal organ after an incident. This also accounts for the subject's high stamina and strength. No known methods exist to counteract this ability.
From our limited experience, we have developed methods to combat this.
  1. Subjects cannot recover from a direct injury to the brain - the tissue regenerates, but serious mental damage is done.
  2. By a similar reasoning, damage can be also done with an injury to the heart. The subject may regenerate the wound, but large blood lose occurs.
  3. Burns or acid wounds can not be healed quickly. Whatever mechanism is used does not operate when the wound is cauterized.
  4. Despite their habit of losing potency quickly, several poisons have been discovered to work. Unfortunately, these chemicals are not inexpensive nor simple to store. As such, we will not equip standard personnel with them.

Further information will be posted as it is uncovered.
