Project Java Development
Time Frame from January 1997 up to now
Activities

This is an on-going project that I work at between my other projects.  I am developing a set of integrated stand-alone applications in Java, which applications I use to help me in the administration of my consulting business and to demonstrate my knowledge and command of the language.

To this day, I have developed and am improving upon the following applications:

  • an application that maintains code tables referred to by the other applications;
  • an accounting management application that maintains an hierarchical general ledger of accounts, accounting transaction codes, journal entries and invoices;
  • a metadata management application that maintains data on information systems, on their components, and on those components' properties, methods and relationships;
  • a contact management application that maintains information on individuals, organizations and geographical locations; and
  • a content management application.

I have also developed logic that allows the above applications to maintain and share their data via a common database and set of indexes, and via classes specially designed to manage those data and indexes.

Technologies
  • Java Development Kit (JDK)
  • Flying Saucer, a renderer of XHTML code using CSS rules
  • Apache Formatting Objects Processor (FOP)
  • JavaMail
Miscellaneous This project has no end in sight. There will always be something else to automate and to integrate into that set of applications.
