Five steps to take to develop a good computerization strategy

Here are five steps to take in order to obtain an optimal strategy for the computerization of an organization’s business:

Description of the mission and of the business challenges, constraints, opportunities, priorities and objectives of the organization.

List and short descriptions of the essential functions and data classes of the business.

Description of the organizational structure.

2 Analysis of the current situation

Description of the current situation in terms of informatics support, with highlighting of the strengths and weaknesses of this support.

3 Analysis of the requirements in terms of informatics support

Description and prioritization of the requirements, by function, data class and organizational unit.

4 Description of the desired or targeted situation

Description of the desired situation in terms of informatics support, with highlighting of the changes that need to be implemented.

5 Development and recommendation of a strategy

Description of the projects or activities to undertake and complete to achieve the desired situation in a certain period of time and within a certain budget.
