YEAR TWO So how are you sporting your hair today? Is it cute? R U workin' it?!!!!! Go! I was brave last week, got up early Saturday morning washed and retwisted before heading upstate. No matter what you do, it's gonna take me about 3 hours to hook it up correct, then I need to tack on another 30 minutes or so for it to dry under the dryer. I actually did a hot oil treatment. Went to the store to buy some hot oil, then realized that I had all TYPES of oil at home that could be used. I used that Wonder 8 oil (which I actually hate becaue it's so friggin heavy! I think it's basically conola oil or something! It makes me break out if I leave it on too long.) It did OK as a hot oil, plus i need to use it all up. I shampooed real good, then applied it for about 20 minutes. I cant really tell if it really made much of a difference. I leave for A2 Tuesday, so I will be re-twisting seriously over the weekend so it looks nice and neat. Hooking up with a guy friend that hasn't a clue that I've locked. I don't really expect him to like them. He's really opinionated, and has already told me he cant stand braids because they're so 'hard'. I do still kinda envy you and your ability to actually comb through your hair, but my locs have gotten to another stage that I'm really appreciating right now. Now to SERIOUSLY combat the weight issue! ok? i'm trying to find somewhere to go lunch time. maybe i will run up to sallys. is the picnic still at the italian ctr? good day for it. sharon went to sally and bought some of those little metal clips and twisted her own hair. she says she locing!!! i washed mine last nite and put it in like 10 braids. this morning i truly do look like bozo!!! don't want to 2 strand twist again. but that's about the only style i can do!! may go and and try tail comb twists AGAIN tonite but not tiny ones like before. i used that Taliah Waajid stuff i won at the hair conf. black shampoo and conditioner and braided it using carrott oil creme and taliah oil pretty good. made my hair all soft and stuff cause you know my ends are really curly i was combing it thru when wet and lost practically NO ends!!!! Hey, out of boredom I made that stop by Sallys yesterday after work. I bought two things....QP Recovery and QP moisturizer spray. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized that I'd already BOUGHT the recovery stuff a while ago, so now I got two bottles. But the moisturizer spray, I used last night, and re-twisted some locs. This stuff actually says its for braids and natural styles. What I liked about it was that it didn't seem real oily like many of the sprays for braids are. It feels like it's definately a moisturizer. I'm hoping to retwist the rest of mine over the weekend and to do a good job of it this time. It's just so time consuming. How are you wearing yours right now? I'm off to the IT picnic at lunch time (for long enough to get my eats on!) then starting the weekend. I will check the website over the weekend to see if I can respond to anything D Hey Andrea, I'm sending off a couple of mugshots as soon as I can find an envelope....they aren't that great, and of COURSE the ones from my vacation are so lame that I can't send them. These are, once again, polaroids, so they look almost as good as my drivers license! In the two I'm sending, the locs haven't been retwisted recently. Actually, I'm getting a bit lazy when it comes to that. I'm gonna handle that at the end of the week and hopefully take a couple more snapshots so you can see the difference. I should probably be a bit more diligent with retwisting so I can keep them from creeping into each other. Realize that it's now been just over a year that I started this. I seem to remember that I was supposed to get myself professionally 'hooked' for my first year anniversary, but hey, why give someone else all that mullah?! I dunno....maybe I will STILL consider treating myself. What I would really like to know is why is it that your hair looks great on those days when the least amount of people see it? Then, when the entire world sees it, it's a bad hair day, or a not-so-good hair day? I mean, yesterday my hair was really kinda cute. Did I GO anywhere? Did I SEE anyone? Other than being spotted by folks in the grocery store, I don't think so! Oh well, such is life! arg! I see you got my mugshots!!!!!! Funny, but I seem to refer to my hair as 'they' as if it's a living thing, rather than 'it' as if it's really grown. it's like 'they have a mind of their own' and 'THEY have really grown'. Strange, eh? So, Andrea, is it encouragement enough to loc yet? SUMMER 2001 hey, whazzzup? I was totally brave last night. Shampooing my hair during a 'schooll night'! But managed to get all twisted up in record time. I stepped in the shower around 7:40, and I was finished twisting by 10:00. In all actuality, that's just shy of two hours! it usually takes me at least 3. But I think the one thing I've changed that helps, is I section my locs off in quarters, with ponytail holders. So I only work with one section at a time. How are you with yours today? Looking forward to next week? ...arg...woke up this morning to find that my 'do rag', which really isnt a 'do rag' but is a knitted cap with rather tight elastic around the rim, was low on my forhead. I came to work with the infamous 'ring' around the forhead....the one you get from too tight elastic , usually a showercap. I look like a dork! I keep rubbing it to try to make it disappear, as I've got a 9 AM meeting! i know.................walk around with a frown!!!
