Margaret Matchett

I am a member of the ACC alternative certification teacher cohort for 2009-2010 and have passed the content exams for Middle School and High School mathematics as well as the EC-12 PPR. I plan to be teaching secondary mathematics this fall.

I have been active in various classrom settings during the last two academic years. I was one of the regular math tutors at Grisham Middle School (RRISD) and I also tutored students at Crockett High School in AISD as part of the Tutors With Vision Program at ACC. I have been substituting in RRISD since January, 2008 & tutored this summer at AISD's Garza High School.

I find it disheartening that so many students do not recognize the role mathematics plays in their everyday lives. Maybe I can give some of these students a different perspective. That would be a good thing...
