Tips 'n Snips
Tips 'n Snips
* Use a fabric softener sheet on a warm iron (wad the sheet up) to remove gunk like webbing residue, etc.  It cleans up the iron and leaves a nice scent.

* An old remedy for non-teflon covered irons is also to cover a piece of Brown paper with salt and iron over that, followed by ironing over waxed paper.

* In a more perfect sewing world we would try to use parchment paper or teflon sheets or the Iron-off attachment when dealing with this stuff and not let our irons get all gunked up. However, be sure while you are cleaning your iron, to clean the sides of it as well as they get more "gooped" than you realize and then this residue can transfer to your pristine fabric.
* Clean out lint and dust often, wipe machine with a clean cloth and keep covered when not in use (make a fun cover and/or give it a massage every now and then).

* Oil regularly if  your machine takes it;  ( we all need it for our joints sooner or later).

* Check your tensions and adjust if necessary.(make sure it is calm and friendly, no yelling, shouting or aggravation needed here).

* Change needles often.(just like we change our clothes, always nice to have new ).

* Buy an extra bobbin case if you can for those threads that need different adjustments and keep one always the same for normal sewing (eat at  home most of the time, go out to a restaurant when needing something special or different).

* Service at least once a year (just like teeth, boobs, eyes and cars).
