Summer Time Tips

Seasonal Tips

-Try to keep your rabbits in a shaded area.
-Frozen water bottles or coke cans are great for bunnies to lay against on hot days.
-Always give plenty of water!
-Check on bunnies frequently and don’t let them get too hot that they get heat stroke.
-If you can, bring the rabbits indoors where it may be cooler.

Winter Tips

-Always give plenty of fresh water. Rabbits do drink a lot in winter.
-Sometimes nest boxes put in the cages are good for the rabbits to go in.
-Stay away from draft or wind, these are terrible for bunnies. Cover up the cages with a blanket if you can.
-If your does are expecting, make sure they have a nestbox lined with fur and hay. If the doe didn’t pull enough hair, you can borrow some from other does who pulled extra. Check on the doe frequently, because if she has her babies on the wire of the cage, they will freeze very quickly. If you find them alive on the wire, put them in the box and cover them with hay. If they are freezing, almost dying, you can warm them on a heating pad or keep a heat lamp near the cage (but not to close that the doe can chew the wire). If you are able to, you can keep the doe and babies indoors. It is just a lot easier to keep an eye on and they will be warmer. Go to www.showbunny.com for more tips.
-Feed your bunnies some veggies in cold weather.
