Can you facilitate a contact with the principal or coach of Marion for me. I represent a high school in California that is attempting to raise donations for a school in New Orleans. Our first football game is Friday, September 8th and we would like to support your school. You can reach me by email or call me at 714 920 9060. Sincerly, Jerry Denham

"Allison Greenwood" All - My plan is to return to NOLA as soon as they let us. I'm currently in Davenport, Iowa staying with my parents. Luckily, my job is secure (for now). I'm working remotely. I'd be interested in helping to coordinate getting supplies/donations/etc. to people in the city once I return. Allison and/or Paul, please contact me so we can talk about how I might assist. And then a few other people/offices could be responsible for collecting clothes and essentials for the families within the schools. For example, I am working for the Los Angeles Unified School District and know that they are anxious to reach out..... I might be thinking too big here, I don't know. But we should definitely do something that will capture and maximize everyone's desire to help. I hope everyone is doing relatively well. Andrea and Mark, seeing as you might be the only two on this email who have first hand experience with the situation, let us know what you think (and I hope you were able to evacuate safely). Best, Allison Greenwood Bajracharya (Oh yeah, on a good note, Oliver and I are married!) Everyone, After sending you the previous email about Abe I decided to also contact Doc Murry. He got back to me immediately. I know I/we have Abe on our minds, but Doc's email needs to be addressed as well. Brian, if you could forward it to the others you did before that would be great.

From: Joe Murry To: "Paul Arabie" Subject: Abramson Sent: Wednesday, September 7, 2005 12:23 AM Dear Paul, It is so great to hear from you. Over the next couple of days we will be putting plans together to regroup our school. We have eight feet of water in our school but we also have a great depth of faith and committment to rebuild. We are located in the lower nine and we serve a diverse population and have many students on need based aid. I know we are not ABE but we do serve many families like those of ABE who really appreciate the education and the leg up that their kids receive. Paul we would be most grateful and appreciative of you and your kids generosity. The majority of our base comes from the most devastated areas. Good hard working middle to lower economic families who have lost every worldly possesion. Despite that they are more concerned about rebuilding the school that they and their sons love so much than rebuilding their own homes. Paul any generosity that your kids would share with us would be remembered forever. We are a very traditional place (126 years old) and direct descendants of the Notre Dame school. Paul thanks for the concern. Let's stay in touch. First, I hope you and yours are OK after the hurricane. I'm sure you probably have a lot on your mind, and I can only imagine the work that you have ahead of you in New Orleans. Yet, I'm writing to ask how my school can help. I understand that you are no longer at Abe, but the students and staff (all 3,500 of us)have been putting our heads together to come up with something for the students of New Orleans. We know financially we could donate money to the Red Cross, and many people are doing that, but I wanted to put a face and something more tangible on the decision we make. My idea was to start a school supply drive for one particular school that our students could see was helping. I know there are many in need down there, but being able to know and see who we are helping helps even more. In essence, we would like to adopt a school and distribute supplies and money to it. I just didn't know who to contact, but I have your email address. I'm sure know one knows when New Orleans schools will be up and running again, but we want to be there when they do. Any ideas you may have or contacts you know would be greatly appreciated. I know what I'm asking may be the farthest from your mind, but if by chance you had any feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Once again, I can only hope that everyone you care about is well. Looking on from afar is devastating for me without a way to help. I also have reached Dan Konecky, Brian Beabout, Allison Greenwood, and David Adamji about helping as well. Everyone has a deep relationship with Abe and New Orleans. When you have a chance to breathe I would love to hear back from you. Paul Arabie Morton East High School Cicero, IL 773.750.1556
Dear commodores past and present, Laura and I have been watching the news with horror this week- and praying that our friends and colleagues are OK. If anybody needs anything- please feel free to ask. We're so far away- we're not sure how best to help- so if you have an idea, please send it my way. Thanks and god bless. Commodores past and present, Yeah, our thoughts have been in the same subject Arabie. A good idea. Laura was telling me about the NPR piece... chilling. I'm sending this to Andrea, who's husband Mark is (or at least WAS until last week) an administrator at ABE. Hopefully, if he's got his own needs taken care of, he can direct our efforts a little bit in this regard. People who don't know what I'm taking about, see below... From: Paul Arabie To: David Adamji Brian Beabout Allison Greenwood Dan Konecky Chistopher Meidl Subject: Abe/NOLA Date: Tue, 6 Sep 2005 17:08:05 -0700 (PDT) Hey everyone, I know everyone has been watching the aftermath in New Orleans in awe, but I wanted to pass on an idea to you. I'm sure like me, you have been thinking about how to help. At first I was so stunned it was hard to think how to help. Maybe you have already donated money, and that's great, but I started thinking smaller. I heard an NPR interview today with someone from "the East" who last saw their daughter at Marion Abramson high school, which was being used as a shelter until it started flooding. I most of us are still in education are still attached to it somehow, so this is what I've started at my school here in Chicago, and thought I'd pass it on to y'all for any kind of feedback. As of today, my school has started a school supply drive for displaced students, but what I'd like to do is adopt Abe. I think it would put a face and something more tangible for my students if they knew who was getting the supplies. I know many are in need all around the Gulf Coast, but this could narrow the focus a little outside of the often bureaucratic mayhem of general donations. Of course the time frame of when schools will even reopen is only a guess, but it would be great to have a supply of things ready to give when they do. Please let me know what you think, what else you may have done, or other ideas that you have. Also, if you could forward this to other Abe staff alums that would be great. Hope this reaches all of you well, Paul Arabie Morton East High School 2423 S. Austin Blvd. Cicero, IL 60804 773.750.1556
