DBSM BIO
DBSM (Dead Baby Spider Monkeys) started in the summer of 2002 when Jay - guitar, and Justin - bass decided to get together to play some music.  Both men shared a mutual love of playing music, particularly metal music such as Slayer, Pantera, Megadeth, and Obituary.  They also both liked getting drunk.  Other musicians came and went with these two men.  DBSM (at that time nameless) were just a group of guys - whoever showed up that day - getting together to drink beers and play loud music.  Despite not really being serious, and having no real plans for the band at that time, Jay and Justin wrote their first original song Greasy Hatchet Wound and put together their own version of the Urinal Mints' song I Want to Smoke Crack With You.  Both songs appear on DBSM's demo "Shit Happens When You Party Naked", recorded feb. 2004 at Sleepless Nights in Madison, WI.  The group continued on that way until early 2003 when they met Rick and Dean at a party at Jay's place.
Rick and Dean, guitar and drums respectively, had also been playing music together for some time.  They were more influenced by the modern metal music, such as Slipknot and Lamb of God.  They teamed up with Jay and Justin and immediately made a great impact on the sound.  The only missing part was a singer.  Justin and Jay both could sing, but the band wanted a front man who was free to jump around and get the crowd moving.  Finally they found Kory and DBSM was formed.  DBSM began playing around the Milwaukee area and excitement for the new band grew.  They recorded a six song demo in two days in february in Madison and have since passed out over two thousand copies.  Their biggest show was in early 2004 when they played with Superjoint Ritual at The Rave, Milwaukee.  It also turned out to be the last show for quite some time.  Kory and DBSM decided to go their own seperate ways.
Justin switched from bass to take over the vocals and the result was another improvement.  The words became darker and more angry, and the voice matched the music perfectly.  DBSM continued perfecting their craft without a bass player, writing new songs, each one better than the last.  Songs like Visibly Clear and Suffering tell of the bands bleak outlook on life and the pain endured, while Death Trance screams of death's inevitability, yet a complete lack of fear for it.
In spetember, 2004, DBSM finally found their missing part, their current bass player, Jason.  Jason was a guitar player and friend of Justins who had just moved back into town after going to college for music.  He had moved back with full intentions of joining a serious band and after making the switch to bass, DBSM became that band.
DBSM have played with Superjoint Ritual, Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Bleeding Through, Himsa, Throwdown, Sketchy, The Heavils, Rictus Grin, Dark Shift, Emotional Flatline, and more.  They hope to have a new cd out by summer of 2005.  DBSM still and always will remain true to their roots however - its all about the music and having a good time.
