The Chancel Choir at Dexter's First United Methodist Church is dedicated to serving God and the congregation with the uplifting blessing of music. The choir is a dedicated and fun-loving group that prepares a wide variety of anthems each year for services - from traditional hymns and new contemporary anthems to spirituals and inspiring new worship songs.

Dexter's FUMC is proud to have one of the only pipe organs in the community still in regular use. A concert grand piano was added to the sanctuary ten years ago, and is a constant source of inspiration. A Kurzweil keyboard rounds out the instruments in the church sanctuary, with a second keyboard in Wesley Hall. The congregation and choir are blessed with a number of talented organists, pianists and other instrumentalists who add their talents to the worship experience. In addition, modern, up-to-date sound equipment is a part of the music picture.
The Chancel Choir is for anyone interested in singing a joyful song to the Lord. From high school students to older adults, the choir welcomes new members with open arms.
MaryRuth Boone has been the Director of Music at FUMC for over 25 years. Thanks to her leadership our choir has continued to grow and to be a blessing each week to the congregation. The choir prepares a special cantata each Christmas as well as special music for Palm Sunday and Easter.
The Chancel Choir meets each Wednesday during the school year in the sanctuary beginning at 7 p.m. ... come join the fun and sing a joyful sound! |
