Conservation also means preserving the genetic diversity of Orchids. By breeding we are conserving the various unexploited genetic qualities. Though many of the Indian Orchids are not so big or showy as the commercial hybrids imported to India, the colour and shape of flowers, the environmental adaptability, tolerance of many species, viability of the seeds produced, diversity within a species etc. etc. are to be preserved through cultivation, inter species and inter generic crossings. Discussions in this regard are solicited.
