Samahan ng Anak ni Maria, Inc.
Started way back 1986 as a religious apostolate of some Catechrists, Legionaries, Seminarians, etc. of San Isidro Labrador Parish upon blessings of their parish priest, the late Msgr. Valeriano Caguicla. But it was the late Rev. Fr. Emilio Palma who helped build the first house for the children in 1989. At present Msgr. Maximiano Manalac acts as its Eccl. Adviser and Msgr. Fidel Menorca as the spiritual director.
GOAL : Total development of the individual. To reach our to one hundred streetchildren in one year and to reunite at least 40% to 50% of them with their respective families, or refer them to foster care or other institutions which can best serve their needs, until they can be reunited and re-integrated to community life.
MISSION : To provide temporary shelter in a family-type atmosphere to children who are victims of injustice and whose famiies are in crisis, with the intention of reuniting them later on with their respectives families and re-integrating them to community life.
VISION : SAMAHAN believes that all individuals, being children of God, have a right to a happy home-like atmosphere where love and discipline abounds, together with spiritual, educational, physical and other social services until such time they can be re-integrated to the mainstream of society.
OBJECTIVES
1. To provide spiritual formation and inculcate positive and constructive values as basis of their development.
2. To establish opportunities to utilize and develop their skills and talents to enhance self-esteem and improve social functioning.
3. To improve temporary shelter in a family-like atmosphere for the streetchildren, where they can truly enjoy their childhood.
4. To re-integrate the children to formal education, if not to an informal literacy program.
5. To provide them with medical and dental services.
6. To provide livehood not only to the children, but to their families as well, to make them self-reliant and let them work and live with dignity.
