Subject: Coltrane interview

Very nice to see the Coltrane/Kofsky interview up in the web in print. I also have a copy of the cassette (about 1000th generation I'm sure) with the various sounds.

Here are a couple of thoughts and comments.

The correct spelling of "David Eisensen" is David Izenzon who is probably best known as the bass player in Ornette Coleman's trio records at the Golden Circle in Stockholm which I think were issued by Blue Note and Ornette's Town Hall Concert issued by ESP Disk.

David was classically trained and performed with Pablo Cassals at his famous United Nations Concert in New York (as well as lots of other classical gigs). David also jammed or performed publically with just about every Jazz player in the world at one time or another before his untimely death from a heart attack. He held a Phd in psychology and had a psychotherapy/encounter group practice out of his brownstone on East 3rd street in the East Village. David was very proud of being one of the very few musicians who were asked to perform at Coltrane's funeral.

David was one of my teachers and a dear friend. I've run drug rehab encounter groups myself but David ran groups that were really special almost Harmelodic.

My main teacher was Don Cherry. Here is a link in Austria.

My brother is a student of Elvin's and if you find a page on him please let me know.

Keep up the good work and thanks again
