Short Shrift to Tall
Promises - Harinder Baweja (India Today, June 15, 1995). "No issue is as
central to Kashmir politics as autonomy, and no issue so confusing. Its
definition today depends on who is doing the defining."

Studies Conference, Statesboro, Georgia, 24th April 1992).

[ Anti-muslim bias in India is sometimes "justified" as
a response to the mistreatment of minorities in Pakistan. Closer to home, there
is the plight of the refugees in Jammu. While this argument of balancing
injustices must be denied because of its inhumanity, it is also foolish
to claim a disconnection between the two situations. Indian Muslims must have
broader concerns than their own situation in India - we must speak out against
the mirror images in Pakistan and Kashmir. ]
