Grey Wagtail

Motacilla cinerea

Not as common as the White and Yellow Wagtails. In Allahabad, a single sighting (Nov 99) on the riverbank by the HRI campus. In May 2000, a lone Grey Wagtail turned up in our garden in Aligarh and stayed for at least a week - throughout that time it was found by a drain that ran along a hedge and under a tree. On being disturbed the Wagtail would fly some distance away, but return within a few minutes. That is the wagtail in the photos above.
