I have just been informed that I am to get a miniature schnauzer sister. No consultation, just informed this is to happen. I don't know how I feel about this yet, is it going to be a good or bad thing?
One thing I do know is that it's going to mean hard work for me. I've only just got my humans trained and now I've to start again with a sister. I have no date of the intended arrival yet but do know she will be called Edie.
I have been jotting down a few of the most important details that I'll have to teach her in the first few days.
Understand the difference between a bark and a yelp. The latter suggests pain, like a human standing on your paw, and is usually rewarded with a tasty biscuit by way of an apology. It is easy to confuse humans into thinking they've hurt you. Cowering away usually increases their guilt and the peace offerings multiply.
Part of growing up means understanding that your humans will always rescue you from any situation. To demonstrate this, swim to an island in the middle of a murky pond but don't swim back. This trains your humans into retrieving you, demonstrating their love for you and water at the same time.
For days when you feel your not being paid enough attention, wee on the kitchen floor. They will get the mop out as a reward for you to play with. Your humans will shout at you in order to excite you even more thus making the game more enjoyable for the both of you.
Take everything you are told by humans with a pinch of salt. After all these are people who after reading that a product is "NON SCENTED" will promptly smell it and if a item has a sign that states "WET PAINT" they have to touch and check that yes indeed it is wet.
Lastly and by all means not leastly is that most of the food stuffs must be tasted by me first. See example below.
