Agot Isidro blooms as woman and artist
by Mary Ann A. Bautista and Ricky T. Gallardo
There is no doubt that Agot Isidro is in love. The night she launched her new CD at Hard Rock Café, we sensed how soothing and relaxed her voice has become, and her eyes simply couldn't hide the overflowing feelings inside her heart.
Clad in her favorite boy-look ensemble, Isidro immediately "infected" the audience with her radiant aura. And when she started to sing some cuts from her "Best in Me" album, Isidro reminded us how far she has gone since her debut hit, "Everyday."
The 10-track collection from BMG Records is a good mix of easy-listening music, some cool fusion of pop and R & B, and really good cover songs like "Iisa Pa Lamang" and "Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin." The carrier song, "You Do," is a composition by Christine Bendebel which Isidro sang with enlightened passion. Another prized catch is Trina Belamide's "You Bring Out the Best in Me," with a melody that is very radio-friendly.
In the audience that night was Isidro's current beau, advertising hotshot Manu Sandejas, who was obviously delighted with the show and pleased with the all-out support being accorded to his girlfriend by BMG top executives and the press invitees. The thirtysomething Isidro joined us after the mini-concert and admitted that she's having a truly auspicious start this year.
"You can't really tell what's gonna happen. Sometimes, the more you plan things, the more they don't materialize. What's going on in my life now is something I didn't really plan for, but something I've always wished would happen. A 'sorta comeback' album which has some really good cuts, a stable TV career, and this one," she touches the left center part of her chest, an action which needs no further explanation. Agot Isidro is certainly having the best of all her worlds. Go, girl!
