Here they are, the subliminal messages hidden in the lyrics and an
obscure glimpse into the dark and macabre machinery of Sam the Butcher.
A-L-I-C-E
It's a love song to Alice, from Sam. Some sexual undertones are present
and it only adds to the humor of an already great song.
(Music: Hintz/Timm, Lyrics: Timm/Hintz)
E.F.K. (Eat, F**k, Kill)
Shayne wrote this song using a drum machine. Unlike Donnie, the SR-16
can keep a four-four rhythm, but the song just didn't have a heart until
Donnie supplied a hip-hop beat to it.
(Music: Hintz/Murphy, Lyrics: Hintz)
F**k Bob
A song about Bob, who rented off of Donnie's parents, and always bitched
about the band. Our sympathy goes out the the poor sap...F**K BOB!
(Music: Hintz/Murphy/Timm, Lyrics: Murphy)
I Ain't Your Leprechaun
A blues song about a leprechaun. Only Sam the Butcher can deliver that
to you!
(Music: Wade/Timm, Lyrics: Timm/Wade)
I.L.Y.L. (I Love You Like...)
This music rips on the white trash that we had to put up with all our
lives in Monticello. The scary thing is that people like this really exist.
(Music: Hintz, Lyrics: Hintz/Timm)
Insomnia
A spooky song that features some downright scary vocals by Mr. Wade.
(Music: Hintz/Murphy, Lyrics: Hintz/Murphy)
Mama's Pain
A bastardized country song. This one seeems to be a popular request at Sam
the Butcher performances. Why?...we still don't know!
(Music: Hintz, Lyrics: Timm/Hintz)
Paralyzed Superman
This song is about the curse that seems to surround the actors who are
filmed for Superman movies and TV stunts. George Reeves hung himself,
Christopher Reeve is paralyzed, Margo Kidder went insane, and Richard
Pryor had a crack pipe blow up in his face and he has a debilitating
disease. We are just waiting to see what happens to the actors on Lois and
Clark.
(Music: Hintz/Blackwell/Timm, Lyrics:Hintz/Timm/Blackwell)
Red Horse
A departure from the normal(if you can call them that)Sam the Butcher
songs. The song features a flamenco-style, Spanish feel that
emphasizes the lyrics that describe a warped dream.
(Music: Hintz/Timm, Lyrics: Hintz)
Sam, Sam the Butcher Man
This tune was written by Curt as a sequel to the ever popular A-L-I-C-E.
The original music sounded like a rip-off of a Klinker song, so it was
scrapped and brought back to life through Shayne's revivial of the
"Crack-head" riff.
(Music: Hintz/Timm, Lyrics: Timm)
See How My Garden Grows
This tune was created, thrown out the window, and then brought back with
vigor and a whole new vibe. The only thing salvaged from the original
version was the main riff and the line, "Won't you come and see how my garden
grows..." It's basically about a gravedigger putting his job into
perspective.
(Music: Timm/Hintz, Lyrics: Hintz, Wade, Timm)
Semi-Soft
A song about booze goggles and the dangers of picking somebody up when
you're drunk. Remember: You never know what you'll wake up to in the
morning.
(Music: Hintz, Lyrics: Hintz)
When I Was Five
Everyone's parents tell them, "You can be whatever you want to be when
you grow up." In this little number, the boy decides he wants to grow up to
be a serial killer just like John Wayne Gacy, instead of becoming president.
(Music: Timm/Hintz/Wade, Lyrics: Wade/Hintz/Timm)
Woolsie
Another bastardized country and western song. This one's about a farmer
whose wife dies so he starts partaking in extra-curricular activities with
barnyard animals. A sick twist is present in the end. This is how
all country music should be, damn it!
(Music: Hintz/Timm, Lyrics: Hintz/Timm)
