Materials are selected depending on what qualities and compromises are needed to design the best product for its intended purpose. This means we may use a lighter weight fabric instead of a heavier more durable fabric if the product design requires minimal weight and suppleness. Fabrics are coated for water resistance and to prevent fraying. Tough 15 oz. ballistics nylon is used where maximum durability is required; its smooth and highly abrasion resistant finish helps repel moisture. Textured 11 oz. Cordura nylon is good looking and highly abrasion resistant and is used extensively in our products. For lightweight toughness we use 8 oz. packcloth. Linings are light colored 4 oz. oxford nylon which protects the coatings of the outer fabrics, brightens interiors of bags and adds a finished quality. Nylon webbing in 2", 1 1/2", 1" and 3/4" widths are used for a variety of purposes as are Fastex buckles and fasteners. Zippers are YKK nylon coil. Padding is either 3/8" or 1/2" closed cell foam which gives firm cushioned support and does not soak up water. Seams are all sewn twice with #69 nylon bonded thread and then bound with nylon tape to protect the stitching and to prevent unraveling of the fabric. Stress areas are sewn up to six times and are designed to spread the stress.
