Arewa Threatens INEC of Boycott of Voters Registration
The northern elite group,
Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) Tuesday, June 2, threatened to boycott the voters� registration exercise unless the Independent National Commission (INEC) reviews the current rules for the exercise and postpone it to a later date.
The Secretary General of the ACF and former Governor of Kaduna State, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali said in a letter to INEC that like other Nigerians, the ACF felt concerned that the procedure adopted by the electoral commission was strange and unprecedented and
would make it hard for a large proportion of the population to get registered as voters.
He said the north would boycott the registration exercise if the INEC fails
to agree with the ACF demands.
