VO--JAMES POTTER: He keeps the prison like it's his private playgroundor his own little pocket of hell.
CHOICE
The Ministry of Magic. James Potter and Arabella Figg sit quietly in the latter's office.
FIGG: People need heroes, James. Face the fact that you are one to the Wizarding world. We can't afford to lose you; not now.
JAMES: It's my plan, 'Bella. My crazy idea. I cant ask anyone to do something that I won't do first . . .
FIGG: And if you fail?
JAMES: Then I die. It's a risk that I'm willing to take.
FRIENDSHIP
Remus Lupin, James Potter, and Peter Pettigrew stand by Sirius Black's memorial. The sun is setting, and tears are on all three faces.
REMUS (quietly): Don't do this to yourself. You don't know what would have happened in the war, and you don't know if Sirius would have lived or died. Don't kill yourself over what might have been. We can't change that now. All we can do is honor his sacrifice. All we can do is remember the good times. And we can go on with our lives, as Sirius would have wanted us to. Let us remember him as he was and live for the days he let us have.
SACRIFICE
Dementors drag James Potter through the corridors of Azkaban prison. Moments later, he is thrown into an interrogation chair. Voldemort is waiting.
VOLDEMORT: Welcome to Azkaban, Gryffindor.
Lily Potter sits with her head in her hands. Albus Dumbledore stands behind her, his face lined with concern. Slowly, he brings his hands to rest comfortingly on her shoulders.
LILY (whispering): I don't understand . . .
DUMBLEDORE: I know, child. (He swallows) I know.
Severus Snape storms into Remus Lupin's office. His face is tight with angerand worry. The door flies shut behind him with a crash.
SNAPE: He broke. He must have. It's the only possible explanation.
Dementors drag a crumbled figure through Azkaban.
VO--VOLDEMORT: Everyone breaks. It is only a matter of time and method.
An interrogation room door slams shut. Screaming is heard from the other side.

The Alternate Unbroken Universe.
