On Christmas 1998, I found under the Christmas Tree two books by an artist named Lin Wellford - "How to Paint Animals on Rocks", and her second book "How to Paint More Animals on Rocks". And with those books, I discovered a new level of art - instead of painting on flat paper, I could now paint on three-dimensional rocks! "God's Canvas", as a fellow rockpainter (in the Yahoo! RockPainting Club) said.
Since then, I painted a bunch of rocks - from frogs to owls to cats. I really love taking an outdoors trip to collect rocks, finding a perfect rock there, and bringing it home to paint. I love turning common rocks into beautiful things - and on this part of my site, I'm displaying some of my painted rocks.
So please, enjoy this humble gallery of painted rocks! And please remember - I love comments :)
Oh, and don't be fooled by the size of the pictures. My rocks painted so far can each fit into a hand. I just made the pictures bigger so you can see the details.
I believe this is obvious by now, but PLEASE do not take and use these pictures on your page without my permission! Ask me first!!!
Animals:
(the 4 rock critters above are my very first rock paintings)

Other:
The rock painting below was actually painted to look like a small jewelry box (it looked just like one). I painted it in traditional Russian style - because after all, that's where I come from. ^_^

Anime:
Knowing my anime obsession, and my rock-painting obsession, I just couldn't resist painting this little guy! It's Pikachu from Pokemon!

Well, I hope you liked my small but growing gallery of painted rocks. I painted each and every one of them myself - and guess what! You can learn to paint rocks too! Anyone can learn to paint rocks, with Lin Wellford's books. Do you think you don't have a drop of talent and couldn't paint rocks to save your life? Well, you're WRONG! Anyone, and I do mean anyone, can learn to paint on rocks. Lin Wellford's books will tell you all about it.
You can go to your local bookstore's Arts and Crafts section to look for her books (she's written books not only about painting animals, but about painting flowers and houses on rocks as well) Or you could buy it at amazon.com. Just look up books by Lin Wellford, and voila!
If you want to check out other people's painted rocks, I suggest you drop by the Yahoo Rockpainting Club. It's a very friendly place full of very talented and helpful people. You won't regret it if you stop by there! And hey, if you see a person named ElvenRose there... that's me!
Yes that's right! I designed the graphics for this particular page myself! ^_^
