Serena pulled back from his arms as if they had burnt her.Her blue eyes wide and confused. "Serena-"began Darien. "Chiba-san...I-I..I need to get some fr-fresh air."stuttered Serena as she backed further.Pivoting on her heel,Serena made her way hastily to the exit. *Smooth Chiba...REEEEAL smooth.Scare her right off why don't-cha.* lectured his brain irritatingly.Moving towards a wall,Darien slumped back, leaning against the wall.Blowing his bangs up in a defeated sigh. "Hey Darien!!Where's Serena??"called Chad who was coming toward him with Raye. "She left."replied Darien flatly. Raye eyed him suspiciously."You didn't say anything to upset her did you??Because if you did-"began Raye when Chad clamped her mouth shut. "Sorry,Dare...you know how women get sometimes.No self-restraint.They love to shoot their mouths off."shrugged Chad sympathetic. Darien's lips quirked in a sardonic grin.Amusement gleaming in his eyes. Raye was looking at Chad with a murderous look.When Raye was outside alone with Chad,he doubted if his friend was going to come back alive after being flayed by the hot tempered raven-haired beauty. "Anyway,we were thinking of hitting the Sigma Club.It's getting boring here.Even the band has slowed to a crawl."sighed Chad. "More like a snore."Darien replied looking bored.Raye was eyeing him with that peculiar look again.Keeping his expression neutral,he smiled at her. Her eyebrows lifted with amusement. She knew..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Serena was driving her car like a mad woman.No certain destination in mind.She'd promised Lita she was going to attend the sleepover she'd organized among themselves..the 'Outrageous Five' of Delta Sorority.A smile played her lips.The nickname had been bestowed upon the by Darien Chiba the Mighty himself.In retaliation to the nickname,Serena had (as usual) outrageously nicknamed his group,the 'Flirting Five' of Theta Fraternity. At the time Serena had known them...which was 9 years old...Darien's clique had been absolute lechers,and they had only been 10 years old!! A strangled sound came from her throat,sounding like a half-sob and a half-giggle. She hated Darien Chiba.She WAS SUPPOSE to hate Darien Chiba.His declaration of love had shocked her.It had rocked her world.The very world she had tried so hard to stable after her mother's death.But now it seemed...it's foundations were beginning to crumble. She hated him.She loved him.She despised him.She respected him.She loathed him.She adored him.She....was insane... Tears ran down her face as the cold wind stung her face and whipped her hair back.Why did he have to be so sweet???Why did he have to be so handsome??Why did he have to change things??Why couldn't she get him out of her mind???????? She needed to think.Going back to Tsukino Mansion wouldn't offer her the comfort and solitude she needed.She headed for Tokyo Hill's peak.... "I'm afraid,I'm already sick to my stomach,Raye..."groaned Darien. "It's no wonder.I hate gingerbeer."sniffed Raye disdainfully. "Why aren't you dancing with Chad??I don't think the songs here are boring like the prom's."asked Darien as he peered at her confused. "I know the Sigma Club has a reputation to be always swinging.I'm not dancing because I saw that 'cool' look of yours back at the academy.So, what happened??"asked Raye. "I struck out,that's what happened."retorted Darien. "Struck out???"breathed Raye amused and confused at the same time. "Crashed and burned."Darien replied flatly. Raye blinked."You....like Serena..??" "Adored her,since she was able to flail me verbally."grinned Darien. "Darien..."warned Raye. "Alright...recently.Okay??Recently...I developed a...'thing' for her. Happy??Satisfied?"sighed Darien as he dropped his head onto the counter with a 'thud'.His voice muffled...which Raye thought sounded distinctively like..."I'm so pathetic." "Darien...good luck."laughed Raye in a semiserious tone. Getting up,she walked to where Chad was talking to a redhead who seemed to be showing interest in him. "Darien....." "Yes??" "Were you joking about the adoring part??"asked Raye seriously. Darien smiled slightly shaking his head."All true,Pyro...now get back there before you lose your boyfriend."teased Darien. Raye held up two fingers in a V. Darien watched with amusement as Raye marched over and pulled Chad away at the same time shouting a warning to the other girl... "This one's MINE!!Get your own Chad!!" Sitting down on the hill she contemplated her situation. Darien Chiba loved her.When did that happen??Maybe it wasn't love... maybe it was merely infatuation.Hugging herself,Serena tried to rub some warmth into her chilled arms.Getting up,she walked towards her car.Sitting in the open topped car,Serena stared out at the blinking lights. *Don't deny it Serena...he can mend your world...you love him.Pick up your phone and call him.*nagged her conscience. Her hand touched the carphone.All she had to do was call him..... But what if it wasn't love???She didn't want to fall in love and then pine away later on. Serena hugged herself,sliding lower into the carseat. She was afraid...she could be loving and giving to others...but could people be that to her??? It was so very confusing. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves.Serena wasn't here though... a song hit Darien's ears.... Staring at the walls, Sitting on this bed, Waiting for the phone to ring, To see what lies ahead... Memories on the table, Clothes thrown on the floor, Trace of what was gonna be, It's not there anymore... Darien closed his eyes leaning back as memories pierced his brain.. ~FLASHBACK~ "I declare the five of you,the Outrageous Five."said Darien arrogantly, sticking his nose up at the Odangoed blonde. The blonde stuck her tongue at him and replied,"Then I bestow the honor of your group being the Flirting Five." Darien stared at the short girl.NO ONE had ever stood up to him before. "Why THAT name,Odangoed one??" "Because,from what I can see,the five of you are-are absolute... absolute.....lechers!!!"exclaimed Serena proudly. ~~~ "Chiba-baka,you are an idiot."stated Serena. "Why thank you,I'm so flattered Tsukino-odango."retaliated Darien with a cheeky grin. ~~~ "Serena,you shouldn't be so hard on Darien.When he gets married,lots of girls will be very miserable."said Raye. Darien lifted his chin slightly in arrogance and surprise to Raye's words. "You mean he's going to marry lots of girls??"asked Serena dryly. ~~~ "You,Serena Tsukino,have the brains of a turkey!!"exclaimed Darien angrily as he stared the infuriating blonde down. "Really??I didn't even know I had them.The poor thing.I suppose I should give them back??"replied Serena sarcastically. ~END FLASHBACK~ The memories tore a chuckle from him.Getting up,Darien walked towards the door to Ken's backyard. But we'll get through this,somehow... Cos we've got each other now.. Serena lifted her carphone hesitantly,closing her eyes...Serena slammed the phone on the hook with frustration,leaning deeper into the cozy seats. She merely wanted to cry.Pulling her legs up to her chin,she wrapped her arms tighter around herself,burrying her face into her knees. Poignant memories came through a broken dam like a flood. ~FLASHBACK~ "You,are absolutely the most exasperating person I have ever met in Tokyo Hill Academy,Chiba-baka."sighed Serena. "Thank you,Tsukino-odango...you are absolutely the most outrageously infuriating person I have met in Tokyo Hill Academy."grinned Darien shamelessly. ~~~ "You'll have to catch me first,....rabbit.."laughed Darien as he broke into a sprint. "Oooh...why you self-absorbed baka!!!Come back here!!"shouted Serena as she ran after Darien. ~~~ Without any warning,Darien swept her up into his arms,Serena giving a startle shriek. "Chiba!!!" "Relax moppet...I'm not going to drop you."chuckled Darien. ~END FLASHBACK~ Serena eyed the sky wistfully...*Moppet..*.His voice seemed to echo in her brain....annoyingly. "Why did he have to go change things???" Voices in our heads, Silence in the room, Conversations that we had, Words we wanna say, Life is rollin' by, As we understand, Smiles are comin' back again, Powers in our hand, Darien wandered through the backyard aimlessly coming across a quaint grove.Walking towards some rose bushes,he plucked a beautiful red rose which was in perfect full bloom,lifting it slightly to his nose and inhaling deeply.It reminded him of his parents...and...Serena. But we'll get through this,somehow... Cos,we've got each other now.. Serena stared out to space,when her car phone rang,breaking the silence of the dark and lonely hill. "Hello?"answered Serena her heart pounding. "Serena??Where are you??You promised to come."came Lita's voice. "I'm sorry Li..."said Serena sadly. "Serena...."warned Lita. "I'll be fine.Have fun.I'm very well,Lita."replied Serena as brightly as she could,replacing the phone on it's hook before Lita could say anything to reprimand her. Closing her eyes with a sigh,Serena sat up and turned the key in the ignition and her car roared to life. "What took you so long??"came a voice. Serena's eyes snapped open,her head shooting up to meet Darien Chiba's blue gaze. "How did you get in here???"snapped Serena warily. "Your butler."answered Darien as if that was the most obvious answer in the world. "What do you want Darien??"sighed Serena dejectedly. "You." "Well you can't have me,because I'm not actually in stock."sputtered Serena as he began to move closer. "I know...you're a one in a life-time making,exotic and...special." whispered Darien as he stood in front of her. Serena cowered from his touch.She'd NEVER cowered before!!! "Please Darien,I know you didn't really mean what you said at the gym, so..please.."whispered Serena. "Serena,what are you talking about??I meant every word I said!!"exclaimed Darien."I said I loved you,and I do!!"Darien said while pulling her into his arms. "Don't do this to me...please..don't..do this.."wept Serena as tears fell from her eyes,running down her cheeks. "Rabbit,listen to me."ordered Darien. Serena looked up. "I adore you.I always have.Except,I never knew it...until Melissa made a laughingstock of you.God,when I think of the way she humiliated you,my fingers itched to slap and strangle her.I'm sorry I let her hurt you,darling.."whispered Darien. The tears which she should have been spent were coming back with renewed force as she looked up at him. "Oh please,don't cry...I'm sorry."choked Darien as he bent his head to kiss her tears,but Serena was quicker and seized his mouth with hers. "Because I'm born on a Wednesday and I'm a child full of woe,plus I know you can't stand to see people sad,because as a Friday's child,you're loving and giving....and,you've always given me everything I ever wanted,your forgiveness,an argument and your friendship.So,I couldn't believe you wouldn't do it for me,just one more time..."whispered Darien. Serena laughed. "Alright,Mr 1st of August Wednesday's child...now that you've figured I'm putty,and I always give you what you want,how about YOU giving me,something I want???" "Name it,and it's yours."smiled Darien. "I want...." Darien stared at her with curious eyes."Yes??" "You."finished Serena. Darien stifled a laugh."Done,are you paying in cash,checks or kisses??" "I don't know...why don't I try all three first??"smiled Serena. When they both resurfaced from their kisses,Serena traced Darien's jaw with a finger that was light as a feather's caress and he shuddered. "You know,I love you,moppet..."
