"Pretty well.Just your typical day at Tokyo Hill Academy I guess.."smiled Serena. "Did you hear about Melissa??"asked Mina. "Mina,you shouldn't be spreading malicious gossip."warned Amy. "Who says it's gossip??It's merely a bit of spicy truth."smiled Mina. "Don't bother about Amy,tell us,Mina!!"exclaimed Raye excited. "Well,I heard from Holly,the sorority had a special meeting of the Delta officers and it was a no contest vote on Melissa.Everybody agreed she wasn't suited to be President and have asked her to step down 'gracefully'." "Oh...What will happen to her 'lap dogs' now??"asked Raye in a fake sympathetic voice. "Serves her right."said Lita. "Oh,don't be so hard on her..."said Serena. "Sere!!"exclaimed the four girls. "She has it hard enough.Especially when she got into trouble with Mr Yoshida yesterday." "She got into trouble with Miss Yamasate this morning."included Amy as she munched on a cookie. "To important discussions.Who are you going to the prom with???"prodded Lita curiously. "No one."answered Serena nonchalantly. "What do you mean no one?????"asked Mina shocked. "But-"began Mina when a conversation attracted her attention.It was Melissa and a few other regular girls.Serena and the rest noticed Mina's expression and turned.Serena noticed many others had also done the same. "So,Melissa..are you still going to the prom with Darien??"asked one girl. "No."came a reply. "Oh??What happened??He ditched you??" "Of course not.I dumped him."shot Melissa angrily trying to look dignified but failing miserably. "Yeah???I heard he was never going with you in the first place."said a girl airly while the rest snickered. "Who says!!??" "I seem to recall YOU saying...no shouting it yesterday."laughed the girl. "You have not right to say that to me...you-you...common half-blood." spat Melissa."I am of the upper-Tokyo class...a pure-bred of society." "Pure-bred donkey,she means."whispered Raye angrily. "Why you-"swore the girl venomously. The boys were all cat-calling and shouting 'Cat fight'. "Nothing,Tashimoto-sensei...we were merely squabbling over um...the TV show last night!!"exclaimed Melissa. The girl was silent,not wanting to get into trouble. "Well...make sure you don't cause anymore trouble.The BOTH of you.What would the rest of the education think???Tokyo Hill students fighting and shouting like common loose women.A shame to our reputation."reprimanded Mr Tashimoto as he walked away. "Melissa's already a shame to the academy."whispered Lita. "And to the sorority."came a soft voice. "Michelle!!"exclaimed the small group. "Serena,Mina,Lita,Raye,Amy....."smiled Michelle warmly. "As acting president of the Delta Sorority.I just want to apologize for all the trouble Melissa caused.We'd like you back in the sorority...if you still want to come back."smiled Michelle. "After this scene??I doubt she's staying anywhere in the sorority."said Lita bitterly. "Sad...but true."sighed Michelle. "Sad????You've got to be kidding!!"exclaimed Mina. "But you can't blame everything on Melissa...the other girl did start it first by taunting her."pointed out Amy. "She deserved it."said Raye coldly. "Who else did you invite??"asked Serena. "Nobody.I thought we'd have a bestfriends party,and I happen to know the guys are having a private bash at Ken's house.We can party first and then go off. "smiled Lita. "Wicked!!"exclaimed Raye."I'll bring music!" "I'll bring movies!!" "I've got the food prepared." "I'll bring books in case we're bored." (You know who said it right??) Three faces turned to stare at Amy in shock.Amy turned bright red at their stares. "What about you,Serena??You ARE coming right??"questioned Raye. "Huh??Oh...sure.I'll bring some games,I guess..." "NOBODY????The GREAT Darien Chiba,honour roll student,great athlete, President of the Theta Fraternity,from one of the most prominent families in Tokyo,namely the Chiba Family and student of Tokyo Hill Academy,is going with NOBODY????" "Right." "Nobody???"repeated Chad shocked. "Nope." "Not one girl???"echoed Ken. "Zilch." "Nobody at ALL???"asked Greg. "Zero." "You're going STAG????!!!!!"exclaimed Andrew. "Ditto." Darien smiled lazily as if amused by his fraternity brothers' shock. "Oh help,my heart..I think I'm going to have a heart attack."gasped Ken as he clutched his chest dramatically. "Who's attacking it???Lita??"drawled Darien with a grin. Ken frowned."That's not funny." The group gave a few snorts.It was obvious they had been stifling chuckles at Darien's words. "By the way,you guys....I'm having a special bash after the prom.All night."smiled Ken proudly. "Who's going to be there???"asked Chad curious. "Wouldn't YOU like to know....I invited a few of our frat brothers and of course,some of the sorority girls."answered Ken. "But the prom ends at 10pm."pointed out Greg. "That's why it's an all nighter!!Most of the kids would have left at 9.30pm." "Why??"asked Greg,his nose wrinkling. "Because they're going to audition for the circus and then for an encore, they dive off a plane and parachute into Lake Michigan."replied Ken sarcastically. Greg rolled his eyes. Serena had insisted the rest of the girls go off to the prom.She was going to the prom alone..... The doorbell rang,pulling her out of her morbid thoughts. "Miss Tsukino,..Miss Osaka and Mr Umino are here."announced the butler. "Serena,your house is-is....big."gaped Molly as she entered the foyer. "Mansion,Molly...a place like this is called a mansion."teased Serena. Her face turned to the male beside Molly.He had untidy brown hair which stuck out boyishly on his head.But she recognized the horn-rimmed glasses. Melvin....just as he'd been on the beach. "Hi,Melvin."smiled Serena politely. "Serena,you look smashing!"complimented Molly. "You don't look all-bad yourself,Moll."smiled Serena. "Where is Serena??She said she was coming."sighed Mina as her head kept turning towards entrance. "She'll be here,sweetheart."teased Andrew. "This is not the time to be joking Andrew...what if she got involved in an accident????"asked Mina. "You worry too much,honey."chuckled Andrew as he pressed his face to her hair. "I'm trying to worry here!!!"exclaimed Mina. "You are???You see,I thought you were trying to do a new dance-" "Andrew!!I'm trying to be serious here!!!" "Well,you won't need to,here comes Serena."smiled Andrew nodding towards the entrance. Mina breathed a sigh of relief. "Is that....Molly and Melvin???" "Mina!!"smiled Serena. "Serry,you look absolutely ravishing in that costume."grinned Andrew. "And you,my friend..look absolutely dashing in that pirate costume.It suits Mina's gypsy one."replied Serena teasingly. "Why thank you,I know-" "Always the sweet talker,Andy..."quipped Serena. The rest of her friends filed in around her. "Serena,you're here!!"smiled Lita. "I absolutely cannot believe you came stag,Darien."said a friend. "Better than coming with Melissa."replied Darien curtly.His eyes strayed towards the entrance and saw Serena with her friends.She looked absolutely lovely....no..beautiful.She looked like an angel. "Michelle told me they were thinking of kicking Melissa out."said another man. "How sad..."muttered Darien distracted.His gaze fixed on Serena.She was laughing at something Ken had said....his insides twisted slightly. "Did you know-"began someone. "The Moon Princess."grinned Serena.Her palms began to sweat under his unnerving scrutiny. "A princess huh...."muttered Andrew eyeing her costume,then turning to look at Darien's costume.He was dressed in tights and some armor with a black cape with blood-red lining,giving him the effect of a noble knight or prince."Darien,your dark looking costume contrasts to Serry's.You look like a couple!" "Well,it sure doesn't go with Melissa's cat costume."added Raye dryly. "I think it suits her."said Serena her eyes turned to Melissa. "Because she's always so catty???"asked Lita. "I didn't come with Melissa.I came alone."stated Darien. "Really??I thought that was merely a rumor-oops...hehehe."giggled Mina as she slapped a hand over her mouth. Andrew merely grinned. "Gypsy,you and I are going to have a dance."ordered Andrew trying to sound tough. Serena burst out laughing."Andrew!!You do a terrible imitation of a pirate!!" Serena sighed.She clutched the skirts of her dress.She felt like a wallflower.But then...wallflowers weren't subjected to their...enemy?? friend??Whichever it was,they sure didn't have to face this man's gaze. The floor and her shoes were suddenly VERRRRY interesting. "Princess,may I have this dance??"came the deep voice that sent shivers down her spine. Looking up,Serena saw Darien smiling with mock teasing in his eyes,as he offered her his arm. All fear swept away...he was still Chiba-baka...she was still Serena Tsukino,his enemy and sometimes friend...she didn't want this relationship of theirs to change...she loved it,just the way it was...he wouldn't do anything to change it...right?? Serena grinned,matching his teasing tone. "Of course,Prince Baka."taking his offered arm. "Ouch."I think you wounded my pride,dear lady."said Darien as he tried to keep a straight face. They danced in silence when Serena looked up at him. "Darien??" "Hmmm??" "Thank you.."she whispered. "For what??"asked Darien in a puzzled tone as he stared down at the golden haired child who was looking at the floor. "For being so kind to me..."answered Serena in a whisper. "It was nothing...though I may tease you..we-we're friends,aren't we??" asked Darien as his grip tightened possesively around her waist. "Of course..."answered Serena softly. Her eyes were beginning to water,that was so sweet.He was sweet...but, *Friends??*whispered her traitorous heart.She didn't want to be friends...she didn't want anything to change...she was afraid of change, she didn't want to become so emotionally attached to this man... she didn't know what she wanted...... His insides twisted with an unknown emotion...he wanted to be her friend. Hell,he wanted to be more than friends,he wanted to be the one for her, he wanted to shout it right here on the dance floor. Serena stared up at her silent dance partner,his face dark and grim. He seemed lost in thought.His frown deepened.She suddenly wanted to smooth away those lines on his face,she wanted to hold him. "What's wrong,Darien??Do you want or need something??A drink??" *A hug??A kiss??Tsukino...Chiba doesn't need anything,but I know what you need...a shrink.*she thought wryly. "No.."lied Darien.*I want you to love me....that's what I want..*thought Darien to himself.The song suited his mood as he danced with her.
