"I'm busy, Yuuichirou." "Sorry, Rei." "Are you going to do something on Sunday?" "Yes, why?" "Nothing." "Hi, Rei. Going out?" "Yes, I have a date." "Excuse me." Rei opened her window a bit tired. "Grandpa! Wake-Up!" she called. An hour later she was sweeping the door. Yuuichirou appeared in front of her. "Hi, Rei." "How are you, Yuuichirou?" "Fine. Look, I won't be around in the afternoon." "You have an appointment?" "Yes... A date." "Really? Have fun." She entered the temple without reaction. Yuuichirou looked helpless to the door, hoping it will open to help him. But no one could help him with Rei. "What's wrong, Yuuichirou?" A reddish-brown-haired girl looked at him. "Sorry, Anzuko*, I can't continue. I just came here hoping to make jealous another girl, but it didn't work." Anzuko looked at him gently. "I understand, leave if you want." He smiled thankfully and left. A red-haired man sat at Anzuko's side. "Is it what you think?" "Yes, unrequited love... Poor boy." "Do you know who is the miserable girl?" "No, dad, you'll have to find out." "You know that's no problem." She sighed and looked at him. "I love our work, but I like it better when it has a happy ending." "But that can't always happen." "I know." Yuuichirou walked slowly by the street. He had loved Rei since the first day he had seen her. He was just wandering in his life till the night he saw her. His decision was to stay in the temple. Once he had intended to leave, when he thought Rei had a boyfriend, but "her boyfriend" turned out to be a she. Also he was attacked by a demon, so he stayed by force. But he loved to stay. Seeing Rei everyday was wonderful. Though, she never noticed him. Night was starting. He entered a bar and asked for some whisky. His father used to drink it every night when he came from work. A man sat near him. He was Anzuko's father. "Hi." "Hi, kid. Hmm, you have face...! Hurry up with my friend's drink, and bring me one for me," he asked the bartender. When they got their drinks, the man looked at him with pity. "It's a woman, eh?" "Yeah..." "What's her name?" "Rei Hino." "Pretty name, she must have a fiery personality." "Yes." Yuuichirou smiled and asked for another whisky. An hour later Yuuichirou was dunk and the man still had his first drink in his hand. "Is she's pretty?" "The most beautiful girl in Japan. Rei-chan... Nice girl, you know, Priestess, Shinto..." But his face saddened. "Though, she doesn't see me... Blind she is... Don't have love...." "Unrequited love?" "Yeah..." He drank a bit more. "I think you had enough drinks tonight. Well, I'll help you home." "Really? You know where I live?" "Hikawa Temple, right?" When Yuuichirou opened his eyes again, he was in the stairs of Hikawa Temple. Rei came out. "Yuuichirou! Why are you coming home too late?" "Rei-chan, hi!" "You smell... You are drunk! Great, I'll have to take you in. I'm really mad with you." A man with wings looked at them and left. At morning Yuuichirou felt dizzy. Rei entered his room with a face. "What happened?" "You came home drunk! Don't you remember?" "No. I entered a bar, then I was talking to a redhead man." "You aren't making sense. When you feel better, take a broom and clean the stairs." She left. Then she heard steps coming into the temple. Rei turned. A nice blonde girl came to her. Her hair was floating in the wind. "Is Yuu-chan home?" "Yuu? You mean Yuuichirou?" "Yes." "He... He is in his room, there." "Thanks." She smiled and ran to his room. Rei got a weird look. "What's going on?" The girl's hair changed to reddish-brown as she entered Yuuichirou's room. "Anzuko, what are you doing here?" "I wanted to see you again." "But I didn't told you my address." "I guessed." "You know I'm in love with another girl." "I know, I don't like you... I mean, I don't like you that way. I'm just helping you with your girlfriend. I'm making her jealous. Well, I have to go, my dad only gave me some minutes to be out of the house. Bye! And don't drink too much!" As she passed the door her hair turned black. Rei passed and saw her. "You..." "I'm friend of Yuuichirou's. A blonde girl told me that was his room when she was leaving." "Oh, you are ANOTHER friend of Yuuichirou." "Yes, bye, madam." She left and saw her eyes. They were burning of jealously. "It's so strange!" Rei was with her fifth milkshake. Minako was checking she had enough money in her purse. "Why did I offered her a milkshake?" she murmured to herself. "Oh, Rei, look! There's Haruka and Michiru!" The both turned to them and sat in a table near by. "How are you, girls?" said Michiru. "Rei has some love problems." Haruka pretended to think about it and turned to Rei. "Maybe with Yuuichirou Kumada?" Rei blushed and turned to her milkshake. "He is dating lots of girls." Michiru giggled. "Maybe he is trying to make you jealous." "He's too foolish to think that. Haruka, did you ever made Michiru jealous to conquer her?" Haruka blushed intensely and Michiru smiled mischievously. Minako blushed too. "Rei!" Michiru coughed. "Actually, I did it." Minako and Rei turned to Haruka and then to Michiru. "Haruka was a bit shy, so I started dating s boy and then, she, well, we started our relationship." She blushed a bit. Haruka interrupted. "Michiru, we have to pick Hotaru from school." "That's right." "Bye." They left, Haruka seemed in a hurry. Minako laughed. "You really embarrassed Haruka." Rei smiled a little. "But still, what can I do with Yuuichirou?" "Start to treat him better?" "Don't joke." "I'm not, you treat him as dog. It's not a very good love demonstration." "But I don't love him." A figure flew away from a plant near them. Anzuko appeared in an empty table near them and then walked out. "At least, I'm not sure I do," added Rei. "Come on, Rei, I know you are strong enough to see your own feelings." "But I can't let love make me weak." Anzuko appeared in front of her father. He wore a white suit, had wings and two hearts crossed by an arrow in his collar and waist. Anzuko had a red shirt, pink skirt, red boots and gloves. A heart was painted in her shirt. Her hair was purple and yellow now. "What have you discovered, Antigone*?" She looked at the floor. "She doesn't love him." "Then she'll be punished and he shall die." "Don't kill him, I want to keep him. He is so sweet." Antigone blushed. "Antigone... Ok, I guess." She smiled. "Yuuichirou, Yuuichirou!" Rei turned and saw him talking to a green haired girl. "Yuuichirou..." "Rei, this is Anzuko's twin from America, Annie. Remember Anzuko, right, the girl who came to visit me some days ago?" "Which one?" Yuuichiriu didn't hear her. "Annie, this is Rei Hino, the Priest's granddaughter." "Hi. Yuuichirou, see you." She kissed his cheek and left. "Nice girl." Rei made a face. "Why don't you marry her and leave the temple if you like her so much?" she asked bitterly. "Maybe I will." "Do it then." "Thanks." He left mad. Rei turned and some tears came down her cheeks. "Yuuichirou, did my sister bring you my letter?" "Yes, she was nice." "You like her?" "Well, as much as I like you." "As a friend, right? You still love that selfish Rei." Yuuichirou got serious. "Anzuko..." "Sorry, I know you love her, but can I give you a kiss?" "A kiss?" "Just to know what is Rei missing." "But..." She jumped and kissed him. His eyes lost their bright. "I'm sorry, Yuuichirou, but she doesn't love you." Rei opened the door. Anzuko was there. "Hi, I'm Anzuko." "A friend of his, I guess. Yuuichirou isn't home right now." "I know, he is in my apartment." It would have been kinder to have killed Rei with a sword at that moment. "Really?" "Yes, I just wanted to tell you I was going to take his things out, as he asked." "Why?" "We are going to marry!" Rei turmed and entered her room crying. "You said she didn't loved him!" Antigone bit her lip. "She told her friend that she didn't." Her father was furious. "Her pain when you told her you were going to marry was quite evident." "I know. But I have already kissed him once." "Antigone! You know you can only do that when I have double-checked!" "I'm sorry, father... I'm just so fond with him." "You are falling in love with a victim?" "I'm half human, unlike you." Her father cooled a bit. "I know. But now she can ask for the second kiss, the mercy love." Antigone seemed disappointed. "You have to?" "Yes, you seem to have committed a mistake, I can't stand it." "I know, I'll go to tell her." Rei was crying in the cafe. Michiru and Haruka appeared. "What's wrong, girl?" asked Haruka. She looked a them and continued sobbing. "Let me see, it's..." started Michiru. "Yuuichirou Kumada," finished Haruka. "That's right. Rei, what is wrong with Yuuichirou?" She cleaned her tears. "He is going to get married." "What?" said both girls unbelieving. "With a nice brunette... He'll be happy and I'll be miserable because of my pride." Someone entered the cafe. She walked to the group. "Rei Hino?" Rei looked at Anzuko... Or was it Annie? "Are you Yuuichirou's fiancée?" Anzuko shrugged. She left a card in the table and left. "The invitation to the ceremony..." said Rei pushing it away. Michiru picked it up and opened her eyes wide. "It's not that, Rei." Haruka read it and gave it back to Rei quickly. "Miss Rei: " " Apparently we have committed a mistake. If you DO love Mr." " Kumada, you must go to the entrance of the Hikawa Jinja at midnight " " tonight. If you prove your love, you may be able to save him. " " Anteros* & Antigone " "Anteros was the God that avenged unrequited love," whispered Michiru. "Then that wedding plans are fake!" Rei was full of hope. "There is a PS..." Haruka read: "PS: Be prepared for a fight. You may bring two witnesses. " Rei turned to them. "Can you come with me?" Haruka looked at Michiru. She smiled. "Sure." Rei smiled. At midnight the 3 of them were there. Anzuko/Antigone appeared in her fighter suit. "I'm Antigone, daughter of Anteros." "You took Yuuichirou away from me." "I thought his love for you was unrequited. I have already kissed him, so now he is under my spell." "You..." "Wait. Just a true love kiss can save his life now. He'll die soon because my lips are poisonous in every first kiss. You must defeat me to have the right of the second kiss. Otherwise, I'll give it and he'll instantly fell in love with me eternally." "How must I defeat you?" "I'm a great archer. Beat me and we'll see." Rei raised her Mars stick. "Mars Crystal Power, Make-Up!" She turned to Sailor Mars. She took her Mars bow out. "I'm Ready." Antigone raised her eyebrows. "I didn't expected that." She turned to Haruka and Michiru. "You witnesses want to transform too?" Haruka looked at Michiru and she nodded. They transformed into Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. "Alright, now we all are comfortable, I'll give the rules." Yuuichirou appeared in front of them, unconscious and enchained from a platform. "You have to make your arrow cross his heart." "He'll die," said Haruka. "If she loves him, she must trust love. I'll go first." She took out a heart-shaped bow and a cupid arrow. "Look." The arrow crossed his left shoulder and some blood fell in the floor. "Yuuichirou!" shouted Rei. "He's alright," said Michiru looking at her mirror. Rei looked at her. "Your turn, Rei." Rei stood with the bow and arrow in her arms. "Yuuichirou... I want you back... Forgive me if I keep hurting you, but now I have to trust love." She shot with her closed eyes. When she opened them she saw her arrow had crossed Yuuichirou's heart. He disappeared, and so did the blood, letting them see a target. Her arrow was in the bull's eye. "An illusion," concluded Michiru, "that's what my mirror was telling me." "Why did you made me do this?" Antigone giggled. "Just fun. Supposedly I should let you kiss him now, but I want him, so you must defeat me in a sword fight." Her bow turned to a sword. "I don't have a sword." Haruka took out hers. "Be really careful," she said handing it to Rei. "Thanks." Antigone attacked her by surprise. Rei tried to protect herself. But Rei wasn't good at swords play so a minute later the Space Sword flew away from her hands. Haruka ran to pick it up. Rei looked pale at Antigone, who came closer. "You lose... I'll kill you." "Don't you dare." Haruka stopped Antigone's sword with hers as Michiru helped Rei up. "Stop it, Antigone!" Her face went white and turned. "Hi, daddy..." Anteros looked at her, really mad. "What are you doing?" "Nothing..." "You want to keep the boy, don't you?" "Dad..." Anteros pushed her away, and turned to Rei. "Do you love Yuuichirou Kumada?" "Yes." He approached to her. "If you do, kiss him. Only a true love kiss will save his life, but you must be sure or he'll die instantly." Yuuichirou appeared at her side. Rei looked the loved face. It was pale. Antigone looked at her with scorn. Rei moved her hair and drew her face to Yuuichirou's. Some moments later she was in the middle of a deep kiss with Yuuichirou. He opened his eyes. "Rei? No... Sailor Mars." She smiled. Anteros walked to Antigone. "You are a spoiled child." "Sorry, dad. I won't do it again. I'm part human, I can make mistakes." He moved his head impatiently. "What can I do? You are my daughter anyway." He turned. "Miss Mars?" Rei turned to him. "Yes?" "We are sorry for not realizing you loved Mr. Kumada, as he loved you. We wish you happiness." They flew away. Antigone threw Yuuichirou a kiss as she disappeared. Michiru smiled to Haruka and they left. "Sailor Mars? He sad I loved you, but I love Rei Hino, Miss. You kiss great but I love Rei." Rei smiled. "You are really a fool." "Sorry?" "Look into my eyes, don't you recognize me?" He looked deep into her eyes and remembered Rei's smile. "Rei? You are Sailor Mars?" "Yes. Anzuko, Annie and so on were just one girl: Antigone, daughter of the avenger of unrequited love. They thought I didn't loved you back." "But you do?" He was confused. Rei touched his nose, and turned away. "You should have known." She looked at him again. "Otherwise, why would I have saved you?" He kissed her again. "I love you, Rei." "I love you too."
