Author's note: Ami is a girl of study, the brain.  But does she have a heart?  Yes, otherwise 
she wouldn't have liked Ryo.  But Ryo disappeared of her life...  Or she made him disappear?

Love-Senshi Series N° 10

		     		    The Last Exam

	When Ami was called by the hospital's director she didn't knew what to think.  But when 
he had finished his explanation, Ami was really excited.  "Harvard?  Are you kidding me?"  "Of 
course not, Dr. Mizuno.  We have chosen you to represent our hospital in the Century Medical 
Seminary.  Even thought you are young, you have proven us our worth.  And your mother reputation 
also helped.  We want you to become one of our best doctors and learn a lot in the CMS.  It will 
only last a month, but you have to make an investigation to present int it"  "You don't have to say 
all those things.  I'll go!"

	As Ami told all her friends they jumped of happiness. "Dr. Ami of the Juuban 
Hospital..."  "Dr. Ami, could you help me?"  "Dr. Ami, want some tea?"  Ami laughed with them.  
Usagi was smiling with sleeping two-year-old Chibi-Usa in her arms.  Makoto was trying to cut 
her cake in equal pieces.  Minako and Rei continued their jokes about Dr. Ami.  She just watched 
them with a smile.  A big sound came from outside.  Mamoru, who was seeing TV, came to them.  
"What was that?"  They heard a thunder.  A storm started outside and a black figure stood in the 
top of one of the neighbouring houses.

	"That figure..."  said Usagi.  "It can't be true.  That dark shadow is attacking Earth." 
Minako hung the phone.  "The Outers are coming."   The reached them in a minute and stood out 
of the house looking at the new enemy, who seemed to didn't notice them.  But when Usagi came 
out she turned to her with an evil smile.  She presented herself as the new Chaos Lady, she had 
been sealed in everyone's heart until now, as the darkness had started to cover many hearts and 
they had come together.  "Now I'm going to destroy you, Moon princess, and all of your 
friends."  Usagi took her silver crystal out.  "Mercury Crystal Power!"  "Mars Crystal Power!"  
The Senshi gave Usagi their power.  She threw a colourful ray and Chaos vanished. Her last 
words were "The pieces of my spirit will remain and take revenge."  Usagi fell drained in 
Mamoru's arms, who had Chibi-Usa.  The silver crystal fell to the ground and as it made contact, 
everything started to turn into crystal.  Everyone was covered by crystal ice.  The whole Earth 
was suddenly silent.
	
	Ami opened her eyes.  Setsuna and some others had already awoke.  "It's the 30th 
century," she said.  Usagi used her crystal to make every person start to awake.  She and Mamoru 
became the Queen & King of Crystal Tokyo, who was an organized country very soon.  Ami still had 
memory of her seminary.  Now she worked in the Memorial Hospital of Crystal Tokyo.  "Serenity?" 
 "Hi Ami.  What's going on?"  "Do you remember about the CM Seminary I mentioned?"  "Yes, you 
were to represent the Juuban Hospital."  "Yes.  Look, my queen..."  "Ami, I'm just Usagi."  
"Well, Usagi, I was wondering if you could get in touch with Harvard to ask if it was held or 
not?  It's less than a year since the Awakening, so maybe it hasn't."  "I'll find out, don't 
worry.  And if there is still time, you'll go as Crystal Tokyo's representative."  Ami smiled. 

	Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury entered the crystal room.  Serenity and Endymion were 
in the centre.  Mars and Venus were standing at their sides.  Venus had Small Lady in her arms.  
Suddenly another Senshi came from behind.  "Michiru..."  Serenity stood.  "I contacted Harvard.  
The CMS hasn't yet been held.  It's programmed to start two weeks from now.  I asked if the 
representatives had to be the same, and they said it wasn't necessary.  So, the one to represent 
Crystal Tokyo shall be you."  Ami's face shone.  "I'm staying here while you are out.  I don't 
like been apart from Haruka, but duty comes first," added Neptune.  Ami started to cry of 
joy.  "Thanks, Usagi.  It's a lifetime opportunity."  "Don't mention it."

	The plane landed slowly; Ami saw that most of America's streets remained 
crystal-coloured after the Awakening as in Crystal Tokyo.  She took her luggage and started to 
look for the people of Harvard that should have come to pick her up.
	A blue-long-haired girl was eating an ice cream with a brown-haired guy.  "Ryo," 
whispered Ami.  The ice-cream girl looked at her watch.  "Your friend must have arrived."  "Well, 
yes, I guess we should look for her, Lucina*."  "That's kind of unenthusiastic.  Wasn't she your 
girlfriend?"  "Just a friend, believe me...  There she is."  He had seen Ami staring at them.  
Ami came closer.
	"Hi," she said shaking hand with them.  "I'm Dr. Lucina Lux, of the Neo-University of 
Michigan."  "Dr. Ami Mizuno."  "Hi, Ami."  She turned to see Ryo's despicable look.  "It's been a 
long time," she whispered.  "No letters, no calls.  It's Ok.  I'm Dr. Urawa of Wasserfälle 
Clinic* in Germany."  "Oh."  Lucina took Ami's luggage.  "Let's go to the hotel that has been 
reserved for all of us."  
	"So you come from Crystal Tokyo."  "Yes."  "The Queen of Tokyo was the one who gave life 
to our planet, right?"  "Yes, Serenity, she did."  "Sailor Moon, isn't she?"  Ami looked 
curiously at that girl.  Her hair and eyes were a lot as hers, but her hair was longer.  Though, 
her face seemed to come more as hers at every minute that passed.  "Yes, she was.  Her daughter 
will take her place."  "Wow."   Ryo didn't join their talk.
	"How have you been, Ryo?"  He turned to see Ami.  "Good.  I just expected news from 
Japan.  Your friend Mako once wrote me to ask if you had told me about Suri Kurume."  "Whom?"  
"Mercurius."  "Suri Kurume was Mercurius' name?  And Mako didn't tell me?"  Ryo was surprised to 
know Ami hadn't met her admirer but still remained in his hostile attitude.

	"This is your room, 315.  Mine is 310 and Ryo's 324.  Fresh up and get ready.  Tomorrow 
starts the CMS at 8 o'clock."  "Thanks."  "Bye, Bye!"  Lucina left and walked to a Beauty 
Parlour.  She took from her pocket a picture of Ami cut from the Newspaper.  "Madam, cut my hair 
as this."

	When Ami entered the class, in Lucina's place was a double of herself.  But a gesture of 
her face proved her it was still Lucina.  She sat in her place, quite shocked.  A man touched her 
shoulder.  "Yes?"  "Hi, I'm Pierre Dijon, Doctor from the Rosaline Lafosse* Academy of New Paris. 
 I have heard you come from Crystal Tokyo, an utopia, as described in the news."  "Yes, I'm Ami 
Mizuno.  Queen Serenity is responsible for Tokyo's peace.  She's a terrific ruler."  "Dr. Mizuno, 
Dr. Dijon, could you two please be quiet?"  The man giving the conference seemed mad.  They 
blushed.  "Excuse us."  Ryo looked at her an turned with a face.

	"And said pharmacology instead of palaeontology!" said Ami.  Pierre laughed.  They were 
sitting in a table near the snack bar.  Ryo passed by and Ami got a sad face.  "Want to eat a 
snack with us, Dr. Urawa?"  "No, thanks Dr. Dijon."  He left muttering "Mustard name."  "He seems 
mad at me," wondered Pierre, "its strange, because I hardly know him."  "He hates me, Pierre."  
"I can't believe that, who could?"  She blushed.  "Look, I was once more than a friend for Ryo 
when he lived in Japan.  We never got formal or something but...  Well, he left.  He once wrote 
me but I didn't write him back.  He is still mad about it."  "And why didn't you answer his 
letter?"  "I have a problem with love letters."  She blushed more.
	Lucina sat at Ami's side.  "Hi, Ami."  Pierre looked carefully at Lucina.  "Dr. Lux, why 
are you SO alike of Dr. Mizuno?"  "Coincidence, I guess."  She smiled.  Ami started felling 
uncomfortable.  "I must go."  Ami stood and left.  Ryo was at the door of the cafeteria and 
stopped her.
	"So you have a new boyfriend?"  "Are you jealous?"  "You wish!"  Ami blushed.  "You still 
love me..."  "Don't be foolish," he said flushing.  An embarrassing silence followed.  Ami's lips 
were trembling.  Lucina appeared between them.  "Hi, dear."  She kissed Ryo.  "Are you talking to 
your old friend?"  "It was nothing important," muttered Ami, turning and going to Pierre again.

	Ami left a letter to the receptionist and went back to her room.  Lucina appeared.  "Hi, 
sorry.  I just left a letter, but I misspelled the address.  Could you give it back to me?"  
"Sure, Dr. Mizuno."  She smiled as they handed her the letter.  She wrote down the address in 
another envelope and gave the other letter to the receptionist.  "It wasn't misspelled, sorry."  
She left smiling evilly.

	A week passed quickly.  Ami and Pierre become friends.  Ami talked to Pierre about Ryo, 
how he treated her now and how much she had surely loved him.  "I don't know, Pierre.  I thought 
I had forgot him.  But when I saw him in the airport...  It was like going back to that time.  It 
was a magic moment.  And then he kissed Lucina, I am sure he likes her just because she looks 
like me." Pierre was bored.  A pageboy came to them.  "A letter for you, Dr. Mizuno."  "Thanks."

	When she entered her room, she opened Mako's letter.  "I'm really happy about your new
boyfriend Pierre...  So Lucina seems to be a very good friend...  When is her wedding with 
Urawa?" she read.  "What on Earth is this?  Who told all these lies to Mako?"  She took the 
phone.  "A long-distance call to Japan."
	"Mako?"  "Ami!  How are...?"  "Have you gone crazy?"  "Ami?  Why are you saying so?"  "I 
can't understand anything that you wrote me.  Ryo isn't marrying Lucina, she isn't my friend and 
Pierre is certainly not my boyfriend."  "But that was written in your letter."  "It wasn't.  I 
didn't even mention Lucina...  Wait, how did I greet you in the letter?"  "Dearest Friend."  "I 
don't write like that."  "Well, now you mention it, I found some spelling errors."  "The letter 
was changed."  They sighed in alarm.  "God."  "I'm confused, but anyway... how are you REALLY 
doing?"  "A little altered.  Ryo seems to be Dr. Lucina Lux' boyfriend now.  "And?"  "I think I 
love him."  "Congratulations!  Finally you are revealing your feelings!"  "Stop it Mako.  It's 
hard."  "Well, send me an e-mail telling me all about your trip, and through a safe computer, so 
it's not hacked.  Tell me everything, ok?  I guess we should hang up or your bill will be 
tremendous."  "Yes.  Bye."  "Good Luck."

	Two weeks later the Seminary ended.  Some diplomas were given, awards for outstanding 
discoveries for a few, including Ryo, Ami and Pierre, etc.  Lucina looked more as Ami every day. 
 "And said pharmacology instead of palaeontology!" said Lucina to some doctors.  It was the last 
day, and there was a party.  Ami was having fun until she saw Ryo dancing with Lucina.  She went 
out to a balcony and looked at the pool.
	Someone came near and kissed her.  She pushed him away.  "Pierre..."  Ami? I'm sorry, but 
I though."  "Why did you do that?"  "Well, as you wrote..."  He handed her a letter.  She read it 
"Come to me, I'm waiting outside, Pierre.  Ami."  She broke it.  "That's not my handwriting."  
"But it's your signature."  "I didn't sign it.  Someone tricked you.  Sorry."  He smiled 
friendly.  "It's Ok.  I just dreamed that it could be true."  "Pierre..."  "Just kidding, I'll 
better leave you alone and I saw Dr. Mei Ling was alone some minutes ago."  "Go get her."  He 
left, and Ami continued looking down.  Ryo had seen them and walked to her as Pierre left.
	Ryo turned Ami.  "So he isn't your boyfriend?"  "Ryo?"  "I saw you kissing him."  "It was 
a mistake."  "A mistake was loving you.  A mistake was waiting for the letters that never came." 
 "I couldn't answer because I have a problem with love-letters!  I can't either write then or 
receive them!"  Ryo blushed and smiled.  "You wanted to send me a love-letter?"  She looked at 
his eyes.  "I tried to do it...  But I couldn't.  It had to be a love letter, I still want to.  I 
still love..."  "I still love you too."  Ami's eyes glittered.  "But, Lucina?"  "She just made me 
remember you."  He kissed her.

	[Ryo walked to her, in the airport.  "I'm leaving to Germany."  "Good look, Ryo."  He 
stepped forward and grabbed her face.  "Goodbye, Ami."  He kissed her and left.  Young Ami looked 
as he disappeared in the distance, blushed.]

	"It's like that day."  "The day I said goodbye."  "Say goodbye again!"  They turned at 
that voice, Lucina's.  They were suddenly surrounded by darkness.  Lucina appeared flying in the 
air with a black dress.  "My dear Sailor Mercury.  The time has come."  Ryo was pushed away.  
"Ami!"  "Ryo!"  He disappeared.  "Who are you?"  "I'm Lucina, a piece of Chaos spirit."  
Ami opened her mouth.  "I had been waiting for you.  I have memorized how you look, act, dress 
and walk.  And Ryo completed the information.  I'll replace you in Crystal Tokyo.  There they 
already think you love Pierre, I'll marry him.  He is easy to trick.  Ryo was too conscious about 
me not being you, he knows you too much."  "You wrote the note to Pierre and changed my letter." 
 "Yes."  "Mercury Crystal Power, Make-Up!"
	"Mercury Aqua Rhapsody!"  The water didn't hurt Lucina.  "You can't beat me.  You are 
wise in many aspects, but don't know what can beat me.  Just a little, yet big, thing, the larger 
it gets, more can receive.  What can break stones if it's true, and makes everyone equal?"  
"Water?"  "No!"  Ryo was shown in chains.  "Come on, Ami."  "Knowledge?"  "No!"  Ryo's chains 
tightened.  "Ami!"  "I know...  It's little because it exists in a small place, the heart.  It's 
big because it has huge power.  I get it.  Lucina, It's Love."
	Ryo's chains disappeared and he fell.  "Yes, that's the answer.  No one in the CMS could 
answer me.  Well, now you guessed my riddle I'll have to kill you both."  She threw a black ray to 
Ryo. Lucina turned and attacked Ami.  "Now, watch as your love dies..."  Ami took from her brooch 
the Mercury Crystal.  "Wise Mercury Crystal, help me!"  It shone and the sailor suit turned in a 
princess dress.  She turned to Lucina and stood up.  "Mercury Water Tsunami!"  The powerful water 
melted Lucina.  Ami fainted.

	When she opened her eyes she was in her room.  Pierre was sleeping in a chair at her 
side.  "Pierre?"  He woke up.  "Ami...  Oh.  Are you alright?"  "Lucina?"  "She has disappeared. 
 We have just found out she wasn't Michigan's representative.  The true one, Miss Deloris Lee was 
killed."  "It's horrible.  Where is Ryo?"  "In his room, he felt weak."  Ami stood up.  "You have 
to rest."  "The best medicine for me is Ryo."  She ran to his room and looked at him.  He looked 
at her as she passed her fingers through his hair.  "Ami...  Is it a dream?"  "No, I'm with you. 
Forever."  They kissed.
	
	"Come to visit us, Pierre!" said Ami.  Ryo was at her side.  "Yes.  If you hadn't kissed 
her, I wouldn't have confronted her and we wouldn't have reconciled."  Pierre made a confused 
face.  "Hey, thanks.  Well, I guess you'll marry now."  "No," said Ami a bit sad.  "I have 
some responsibilities right now.  Maybe later..."  "You won't return to Germany, Ryo?"  "No, I'm 
going to my home, Japan, with the woman I love."  "Congratulations to both, I wish you good 
luck."  "Thanks."
	Ami and Ryo waved Pierre goodbye.  Surely, she had passed her last exam.  The exam of 
love.  The exam of life.
