From the last book...

Ranma uses Akane to sew some herbs on Happousai's back so that girls will be repulsed by him and run away from him the moment he appears. Weak from the lack of females, Happousai is easily defeated. Then it starts to rain , and Ranma-chan is trapped with Happousai. Genma comes to the rescue and battles with Happousai by using his battle aura. The both of them use up their energy and return to the Dojo exhausted.

Shampoo turns up at school with a packet of medicine that will turn ordinary water into Nannichuan water. At the same time, the signboard of Tendo Dojo is stolen, and the challenger sets the date of the battle on the same day as Shampoo and Ranma's supposed date. Akane hurts her right hand and is unable to fight with her enormous opponent. Meanwhile, Ranma is stuck with Shampoo, and trying very hard to get the packet of Nannichuan powder without kissing her. Unable to concentrate, Ranma rushes back to Tendo Dojo to help Akane. Shampoo then starts spouting nonsense and Akane gets jealous. Ranma hides the last packet behind his ear and tears up a packet of fake powder, thus tricking Akane into promising to do lots of stuff for him...then the challenger uncovers his "plot". He gets a slap on his face and a packet of "Nannichuan powder" that only works once. Sigh...

Akane gets the part of Juliet in a inter-school play competition, and Kuno, Happousai and Gosunki all want to be the male lead. At the audition, Ranma overhears that the prize for the winning group is a trip to China. He then excitedly joins in the competition to win the part of Romeo.

On the big day, the four "Romeos" battle for a chance to get close to Akane. Ranma soon defeats all others, but he doesn't know his lines! Then with the help of Soun and Genma, he manages...until the kissing scene. Ranma freaks out at the thought of kissing Akane in public, and all hell breaks loose. Akane refuses to kiss anyone but Ranma and Ranma is too shy to kiss Akane in public. Ranma-chan then changes place with Akane, and gets rid of Happousai. However, Akane makes her way out of the backstage and fights for the place of Juliet. Ranma-chan then takes the chance to kiss Kuno...with a piece of masking tape over his mouth of course.

Gosunki then comes out and drugs Akane. With Akane unconscious, the only way to end the play is to "wake her up with a kiss". Ranma debates with himself, until Akane finally wakes up. She grabs Ranma and kisses him...and we notice the piece of masking tape over his mouth. Akane then teases him all the way home.
