| Gendo and Rei are in Terminal Dogma. He tells Rei to lower her AT Field and initiate the Third Impact. He is hoping to join with her to see is beloved wife again. |
| Meanwhile, the Longinus
Lance returns to Earth. Its arrival is monitored by
Seele. The staff of NERV are busy observing the capture of the EVA 01 by the other EVA units, thus creating the tree of life, and begining the Third Impact. |
| Rei enters Lillith, and
informs Gendo that she is no longer his puppet, and that
his wish will not be fuffilled. Fujiyuski and the NERV staff watch in horror as the readouts from Terminal Dogma reveal that Rei is an Angel, the finial Angel. They also notice that the AT Fields of the EVA's are resonating. The Third Impact is happning now! |
| Inside the EVA unit 01, Shinji's soul begins to open. All his fears, hopes, dreams, and loves all come back to him. He is trying to understand his place in the world. |
| All across the world, the
people see the relization of their dreams. Their most
intimate desires are relizied as their bodies desolve
into LCL, and their souls join the eggs of Lillith and
create a new being. At NERV headquarters, the survivors of the attack watch as a giant Rei rises up from Terminal Dogma. As she passes through, the staff see what they wanted most, and desolve. |
| In the remains of Terminal Dogma, Gendo appologizes to Shinji before he transforms. |
| Shinji is exploring the
depths of humanity. He learns about dreams,
relationships, desires, and that he lived his life afraid
of being hurt, afraid of being alive. Shinji's mother appears, and tells him that all life has the power to make themselves whole again, and where ever you are, if you are happy, you can be in Heaven. The EVA breaks from the giant Rei, and the souls spill. The EVA 01 leaves, and |
| Shinji finds a wounded and bandaged Asuka. At first he tries to strangle her, angry at her refusal to have him. She then places her arms arround him and holds him. |
