Okay, I know what you're thinking. It's either "Wow! A Bayou Billy site!" or
"Why the heck did someone make a Bayou Billy site?!"
Well, this is how it came about. Back when I was in 8th grade (1991-1992), I
met a 6th grader named Vincent Potter. We sat together on the school bus.
Since it was over an hour's ride to and from school, we'd talk about a lot
of stuff. Once, he let me borrow a Nintendo game of his called "The
Adventures of Bayou Billy". I found it very interesting, and I played it a
lot. I had already known the character of Bayou Billy from an episode of the
Saturday morning cartoon "Captain N: The Game Master".
Fast-forward to 1998. My site, "The Unofficial Captain N Home Page", is
going strong. After seeing so many game-specific sites, I started thinking
about making one of my own. So, I went through my favorite games that didn't
already have good sites on them. I tried doing a California Games site, but,
after typing up only a bit of HTML, I deltreed my calgames directory. I just
wasn't into it.
A while later, I thought "Why not a Bayou Billy site?" So, I created the
bayou directory on my hard drive at 10:12 AM on June 3, 1998. Then, I logged
onto the 'Net and typed in "Bayou Billy" in AltaVista, with the quotes. I
saved almost all the info I could find. Then, at 2:10 PM, I started working
on the main page for the site, using the index.htm file of my Captain N site
as a base.
On June 8, 1998, at 7:30 PM, I logged onto the 'Net and went in search of a
place to put the site.
At 8:10 PM that night, I got an account on GeoCities.
