This month we interviewed the favorite puppy dog of #madlib, samoyed, for our player profile. All she wanted to do was beg for treats and constantly had to go outside. What's up with that?

where do you reside? from this planet?

i live in this small box which i call a room in hawaii

which island?

oahu, which is the second oldest of the main islands, or something like that

the other islands are nicer...fewer people! too many tourists here

are you originally from hawaii?

nope moved here ummmmmmmm 6 years ago for grad school

i suppose i should finish some day.

madlib makes it hard to study

where did you live previously to hawaii?

well before i came here...

indiana...italy..indiana again..colorado...japan...pennsylvania...japan again...now here

were you an armed services brat?

nope

how come you moved around so much?

my dad was a minister so we moved around a lot when i was younger..but that was just in the state of indiana...well just the northwest corner actually

we went to italy so my mom could study to be a montessori teacher. and we were there for a year

wow!

yup :)

and did she become a montessori teacher?

yup ..and she still is one. one of my sisters trained to be one too

do your parents live in hawaii too?

nope, just me

the two trips to japan are important!

i went as an exchange student both times

and it's really a wonderful place...just stay away from natto and bashimi

what are natto and bashimi

natto = fermented soybeans....they put raw egg on that and stir it up.

it smells worse than it sounds

and it's really slimey

ewwwwwwww

bashimi = raw horse meat

okay enough

i am a vegetarian NOW. you would be too after that ;)

well it's not as bad as the time i had just swallowed the tail of a shrimp...

my mom remarried when i was like 17, and that's when we got all the steps

i'm working on my PhD in Japanese Linguistics

geez, we'll have to call you dr. samoyed, won't we?

my research is in the relationship between Japanese and other Altaic language

um, what does altaic mean?

this is why i usually just say "i'm a grad student: :)

it's the name of a language family, like english is in the indo-european language family

altaic languages spread from finland to turkey to mongolia to korea to japan

does everyone understand this?

if not, ask samoyed next time you see her in #madlib

how much longer do you have in school?

i'm in for another 5 to life...maybe some time off for good behavior

how did you get that purty crown on your head?

well i fell down and and it just appeared

well cahaya and i talked lots, and i complained lots, we talked lots and about other channels i opped on and with the time difference my evening is late late night for the mainland, and he didn't have any ops then, sooo........he offered me ops and for some reason i took it

what do you like to do when not in #madlib or school?

lol is there such a time?

yes, there is, sam

hehe the joy of being a grad student is you get to choose which 20 hrs of the day you will work

you don't have time to have fun outside of school?

some yup

don't you ever go out drinking, partying, watching movies?

oh well i do the usual, yup that, beach, hiking, playing in other chat channels, hanging out w/ friends

i'm usually on 3 servers in a few channels and chatting ....

it's my second home

and mostly i like the ppl here though...lots of fun

and least..yeah it's having to ban ppl

and then having to hear them whine later..they know the rules

cahaya has put so much time and money into this bot..he can make whatever rules he wants

and he really is a nice guy too

and he is great about listening to player feedback and all

um, do you have any words of wisdom for the players in #madlib?

oh i have to be wise now? doh!
