The Sacred Forms of Edinian Magic

Beware! Traps are laid within these very words! Read on if you must, but be wary at all times.

The Unlight
The Unlight is the most deadly, all consuming, omni-powerful magic in existence. Or does it exist? Only those of the Forestfang Saga have been witnessed wielding such magics. A two sided blade, the Unlight. If used too often, it enshrouds it's user (see appendix H3454 for examples A and B, "Jare", and "Ja'aledre") in infinite essence (thus none at all), stifling forever the user's Saulo Mark. None have been able to escape the Unlight. Del-Eglas Dawnlight was one lost to the Darkness. (see appendix H147 for example A, "The Loss of Sir Dawnlight") His only son, Ry-Let Ghinorwhilyer was the first to absolutely control the Unlight, but he was taken by the Forestflame Order in his late life.

Chaos, beautiful chaos! Life, death, creation, destruction, chaos!
Dance of the nexus, scourge of the universe, madness to all who behold it, absolute calm to those of it.
The beauty, the beauty! Life is not enough; Chaos is all!
~ Kra the Chaotic, final battle cry during the battle of the Orders

Chaos

Pure Chaos is the most unpredictable form of magic. Stemming directly from the Nexus, chaos magic is only easily mastered by those of that plane. There is no simple way to explain it. It must be viewed to be understood, and viewing it, if not the one utilizing it, could lead to great suffering, madness, or death. Death is a blessing after chaos magic has consumed any sentient being.

Saulo magic is the ultimate purity, the most powerful of essences.
Nothing can compete with a master of Saulo magic.
~ Ry-Let Ghinorwhilyer

Saulo Magic

Saulo, pronounced "Solo", flows through all things. It is the magic of time and essence. It is the ultimate weapon against all things. By editing saulo movement, one can theoretically open a time portal, or "snip" a timeline. None have been as successful in the use of this amazing magic as the half-elf Ry-let Ghinorwhilyer, who traveled back and forth through time. His half-brother also had this power, as well as that of the unlight, which he used in deadly unison at the battle of the Orders. (see appendix B65, translation level 12, "Dos Machnomil gaf Del Saulo")

I am a Spur Cat, you see.
Don't trifle with me
Slash you with my claws
With a word from my jaws...
~H'lew Puchese, Excerpt from Tales of the Mountains

The Death Grips

The book of lore "Tales of the Mountains" described power grips best. Some mages specialize in this particular field of magical lore, but most are too frightened of the implications to learn. What would become of this world, this universe, if one found a way to use a simple rune to shatter the Wall Viles? Or could eliminate the gravitational pull of a star with a simple gesture? Or a simple cry into the wind? The "Death Grips" as the UKON calls them, are one of the more powerful forms of magic. Blar the Demon slew Marcus Dragonhide easily using this magic, even though the Forestfang wielder had the blade charged to it's full extent. Retsam Ghinorwhilyer fell to the wiles of the Forestflame Order's mastery of this magic, and was never seen again.
Though it was indeed a nether demon who slew Marcus, the Spur Beasts and Spur Cats are far more powerful in the use of this magic.

I talked with an ether once, it was very well behaved.
An ether dragon it was, and it played games with my mind!
I tell you, games! With MY mind!
~Q'Lchik, legendary Prescient Unlit philosopher

The Ethers

The ethers are said by legend to exist within the Neutral Plane. They are sentient beings of unknown form or strength. Only few can summon them as elementals, which are then known as Ether Dragons. They are quite dangerous, as they are a form of "multimass" elemental which can crush you, drown you, poison you,  suffocate you, burn you, slash you in two, or do all at once. Fortunately for us all, they are very passive and peaceful. As a matter of fact, an Ether Dragon's sacrificial spell is one of  Reincarnation... in one form or another.
When H'lew Puchese returned from his "romp" in the Neutral Plane, he was possessed by an Ether Overlord, the "Most deadly class of ether militia", as the spur cat stated. He was slain by the Forestfang bearer Retsam Ghinorwhilyer, with an amazing upgrade to the Universe Blade's power. Sadly, this doomed Retsam forever (see below).

Skewered on the demon-blade
Which the cursed Rang-ol made
I slay him back, the ethers dance
Held forever in death trance
I saw Who died before me
To the fear of the Free,
The wiles of the demon-blade
which the evil Rang-ol made.
~Chant of The Rebirth

Forestfang and Forestflame
The Forestflame blade offers it's followers one thing which Forestfang does not: Eternal life. Think of the mysterious blades this way: In this infinite universe, everything has it's opposite. And if one is magically powerful enough, they can summon a thing's opposite with ease. Cir Rang-ol was the powerful creator of the Universe Blade Forestfang, and who better to know how to summon it's opposite than it's creator? He did so in order to preserve the bearers with an amazing use of Wall Viles within the scarlet pommel stone of the blade. However, the use of the Rage which Forestfang users stumbled upon shattered the Viles, creating a seperate blade. Forestfang utilises the Material Plane's inert magic, and Forestflame does the exact opposite, using the magic of the Neutral plane, where nothing is material. The Universe Blades are exactly alike physically, except for the fact that the pommel stone of Forestfang is now green, while Forestflame's remains that depthless scarlet.
Now you are wondering about that eternal life thing. As I said before, The Ether Elemental's sacrificial spell is that of reincarnation. And I also said that it was an Ether creature which possessed H'lew Puchese, who was slain by Retsam Ghinorwhilyer with a sudden upgrade to the strength of Forestflame. Put two and two together.
With a sudden loss of the Ether-based Forestflame Blade due to a massive use of The Rage, when used against the ether creature the blade was of no use, except to the physical body of H'lew Puchese. When his physical body was no more, the Overlord had to find another, or die within the terrible bounds of the Material Plane. It obviously chose Retsam as it's new host, but something went wrong. The use of the Rage (a 100% Material Plane based magic) was still within her as Retsam was possessed, and it caused the Ether's magic to go awry, augmenting both her material magical and non-material magical power. Her physical body was changed horrendously, and she was bent to one task: Guard the Forestflame.
After the battle of the Orders, the UKON took possession of the Anti Blade, and, fearing that destroying it could destroy Forestfang, they placed it within their most secret of hiding places, under the Ukonian main castle. They needed an ageless, powerful creature to defend it, and because Retsam was indeed the mother of the Ukonian Leader Ry-Let Ghinorwhilyer, and was suffering from not being near the Anti Blade, she was given the blade and a shelter beneath the castle, within the Treasury.

To Be Continued?
 Perhaps.
