First and foremost, I would like to offer a very heartfelt welcome back to the Supreme Wrestling Federation. By the end of 98, it looked as if one of the bigger leagues would be going under, but 1999 is looking like the most promising year ever. Now on to this week's news... The official announcement has been made, and Mr. Shhh has bought out the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Although some "deadweight" has been removed from the fed, most of the feds top stars remain under contract. It appears that Equalizer is no longer a welcome competitor in the SWF which comes as a big surprise, but I don't expect the former World and International champion to be gone for too long. Word has it that we will continue to see him on upcoming cards in some type of non-wrestling capacity. Let's face it, like it or not... the SWF needs him around. Two excellent wrestlers are considering forming a tag team in the SWF. They've teamed in other leagues and have had great success. Who are they?? Let's just say, the tag ranks could very well be put on "Death Row" very soon. We have already seen Cpl. Punishment, Monster Mark, Time Warp, and Mr. Roboto back in action... but why have they disassociated themselves from the fifth tWo founder, Deaf Leopard? All of my sources are saying that this career jobber is still under contract with the SWF, so why wasn't he included in Shhh's Family? Early word is that he was unhappy with using his character as a stooge for the new owner, and he may be sitting out the remainder of his contract which is up in mid-April. Simon Barresi was seen at a dinner meeting with SWF executives recently, possibly discussing a future role in the new SWF for the 7'7" monster. For those of you who don't know, Barresi first debuted with the SWF a couple of years back when he attacked and chokeslammed David Storm (who had just lost his career to Fatal Fury). When no suitable angle or gimmick could be provided for him, Barresi was taken off television for a number of months until eventually returning as Flash's bodyguard, Cap'n Crunch. The SWF training center officially opened late last month. Apparently, Mr. Shhh would like to begin grooming a group of young talent for a future SWF run. Some of the current trainees include Andre Phoenix,Randall Osbourne, Mario Rocchetta, Troy Dallas, Joe Reed, Jim Dalton, John Adams, Richard Woolsey, McKenzie Barnes, Rob Van Horn, The Wolf Brothers, Heinz Raeder, and Hyuk Suh Kim. Word is that none of these individuals will actually be offered contracts until graduating from the camp. Alan Atkins is supposedly the first graduate of the camp, and we should be seeing him in some incarnation on SWF television within the next month. For more information, check out http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Alley/7415/rulesreg.html There are very strong rumors that the TV title may be dumped. A lot of talk has been going around about dropping the championship in favor of opening the SWF's first cruiserweight division. It looks like Trey Lawrenze, who has been one of the most critically acclaimed rookies in recent memory, will sign on the dotted line and make the leap to the SWF's ranks. One would have to wonder if his Yakuza partners will follow. Considering the fact that Headhunter is a member of the stable, it would not be too much of a shock to see it happen. Some appearances coming up for SWF stars of past and present... Gods Tears is scheduled to appear on Jay Leno's Tonight Show on March 10. A small army of stars should be turning up on MTV sometime in early April. Former SWF valet, Destiny, will be letting it all hang out in the May issue of Penthouse. The KBK are rumored to be appearing in an upcoming series of Taco Bell commercials. "Biggie Z" Zack Adams has been penciled in as a future special guest on an upcoming edition of Late Show with David Letterman. Last but not least, it looks like Pagan is staying retired from professional wrestling as he will be making his acting debut as the God of Chaos on an upcoming episode of Xena: Warrior Princess. And finally, I will leave you with this: Rumors are flying about a legendary alliance making it's way to the SWF. Nothing is concrete yet, but if anything comes through, I will guarantee that you will read it here first. That's all for now... I'll be back next week with another update.
