Sheffield Arena, located in Sheffield England is a real life success story to the vision of those who conceived and planned it, and to the professional know-how of its management team, Spectacor Management Group International (SMGI). The figures speak for themselves. In Sheffield Arena's first year, from the morning of Thursday 30 May 1991, when the Queen performed the opening ceremony, to the final "goodnight" of Stevie Wonder's first anniversary show just 12 months later, almost three quarters of a million people passed through its doors. And this pulling power has kept on growing, with the annual visitor count now exceeding the million mark. They have paid to see spectacular rock, pop, classical and country shows: they have paid to see many of the world's greatest stars perform in person. They have turned out in their thousands to support sporting extravaganzas as different as a display of grace and skill by the last of the great USSR gymnastic teams and the hugely popular antics of that unstoppable phenomenon, the World Wrestling Federation. Tonight they will experience the electricity of the Supreme Wrestling Federation to a sold out crowd. The arena is being setup by the ATW crew and as the ATW globe is raised we pan to the outside of the building. The crowd has already started to gather. Many of them have expressed interest in meeting The Artful Dodger, one of England's fastest growing superstars. SP: I just can't believe we are here in Sheffield Arena, in England. What a great place. Shade look at this quote from it's brochure ("In its new Arena, Sheffield can take pride in one of the greatest contributions to Britain's new generation of leisure facilities. Sheffield Arena boasts a scale and a range of equipment that will give large audiences new and exhilarating experiences of live events and performances") NS: Oh yeah and tonight they are coming to see us. The most dynamic duo since Batman and Robin. SP: Well that's true but I really think that they are here to see our great card and meet in person their hero, The Artful Dodger. NS: I understand he is having an autograph session for his fans prior to tonight's show. And believe it or not he's doing it for nothing. SP: Better yet I was just informed that he was going to be our special ring announcer for the evening. NS: And I guess he is doing that for free too. SP: Now that you mention it. NS: Well I think that is pretty low. He is talking the food out of another person's mouth. SP: Shade what are you babbling about. NS: Well if he had asked for some exuberant salary then Frenck would not of hired him and someone else would of gotten the job. That person would be paying taxes on the money thus feeding the poor. SP: One flaw. This is England and even if it was an American announcer he would just claim overseas income and it would be tax free. (Camera breaks away to the crowd seated in Sheffield area. Many are holding signs up for their favorite wrestlers. One sign shows Godzilla and the Taco Bell Dog in wrestling gear next to the figures one see "Taco Bell Supports the MIA. Sign next to is says Tom Pho is the Toughman Champ) Cutting away to the outside of the arena we still see a long line of people waiting to get in. Many of them are wearing trademark merchandise of their favorite stable or member. One large fellow is draped in a black robe with a head cover that states Kaos rulz. Another wears a Revolution T-shirt with matching hat. A third man is drinking a Gods Tear beer and carrying a six pack of Bacon beer. Camera pans to the alley entrance where a black limo pulls up. The limo is mobbed by the group of people and security has to push them back.) SP: Well from the looks of that limo we are about ready to start. (The crowd is going into a frenzy as the Church of Pain members exit the vehicle one by one. The last is The Artful Dodger and the crowd breaks through security to get at him. Mr. Jones and Mr. Smith assist Westminister as they make their way through the crowd and pick up the Artful Dodger and place him on their shoulders. Security is re-gaining crowd control as the Church makes its' way into the building. ===================================================================== SP: Hello ladies and gentlemen, I'm Simon Phoenix, joined once again by Night Shade. Welcome to Around The World at Sheffield Arena in beautiful Sheffield England. As with tradition we will have a special ring announcer this evening and who else can it be then Mr. Robbin' them Blind" himself. The Artful Dodger. ("Fire It Up" by Busta Rhymes beings to blare as The Artful Dodger makes his way to the ring. Security has to clear a path and keep the fans from pulling the Dodger into the crowd. Dodger looking good in his tux with tails grabs the mic and tried to quiet down the crowd as his music fades into the background.) AD: Good evenin' ladies and gents. For our first match tonight we 'ave two upcoming wrestlers in this league. It should prove to be a good spot of wrestling entertainment. So introducing first, the challenger weighing in at 235 lbs., all the way from Oakland, California... RICKY T-H-E W-I-L-D C-A-R-D Watts. (The lights begins to dim and the entranceway is lit with neon lights. Color laser lights are shooting all around the arena and "Aranjuez, mon Amour" begins to play over the sound system. Ricky appears in the entranceway and the crowd begins booing Ricky as he makes his way to the ring, Climbing up into the ring, he drops his robe, walks over to one of the turnbuckles, steps up on the ropes and salutes the crowd. The crowd goes wild. Ricky continues to go to each corner till he has addressed the entire arena.] SP: I could be wrong but I don't think this crowd likes Watts all that much. NS: Possibly because his last fight was with the Dodger and here the Dodger walks on water. (As the music fades lights start dancing in all different direction and The Swedish National Anthem starts to play) AD: And 'is opponent from Stockholm, Sweden, weighing in at 305 pounds, 'ere is Sven "The Ice Pick" Pieterson!! (Helga and Sven emerge from the entrance and make their way to the ring. Sven is waving a Swedish flag and the crowd is cheering him on. He enters the ring as the music dies down and hands the flag to Helga who puts it in a stand next to the ring.) SP: Well look who is headed down the isle to the front row. NS: Who is that? (Camera pans closer and gets a shot of Tanner Boyle who says a few word to Sven Pieterson They shake hands and Boyle sits down) SP: Well that was certainly unexpected. Tanner Boyle who is in the next match with Hot Shot Donovan seems to be forming some type of allegiance with Sven. NS: Well maybe Boyle thinks he needs some backing against Kaos. SP: Not yet, Boyle is too new to be an enemy of Kaos. NS: Well Tim White is giving the signal so let's get this show on the road. (Camera pans down to the ring) They lock up.
