Goblins vs. Lizardmen Still no pics. Maybe next week. Second lizardman army of the season. Not terribly different, though this one had two regiments of sauruses. Then there was the big fat frog, the shaman, lots of skink bowmen, and the stegadon. My CD-Rom died, so I couldn't get Army Builder to work (needs to detect the CD), so I took the lazy way out and used last weeks list again. Not that I have enough gobbos for much variety in my list yet, anyway. :) So... this was a strange game. Those stupid like squirts with the poisoned bows wreaked havoc on my gobbos again. The stegadon shot up chariots. Magic took out my rock lobbers, and one of the saurus regiments chased off some gobbos. In the mean time, I did manage to kill every last skink, and one of the saurus regiments. But a couple of bad situations arose. My trolls pursued across the table, and out of command range. They fell stupid for the rest of the game, shambling toward the table edge in the enemy deployment zone. They were effectively out of the game. I couldn't send my general after them, becuase he was a bit distracted trying to get his regiment of 40 gobbos into charge position against the second regiment of sauruses. The other unfortunate thing was the fact that I couldn't get a rock lobber shot to hit anything. As opposed to the previous game, where I was picking off cannons and lone human wizards with pinpoint accuracy, or the last lizard game, where I landed multiple rocks right on the stegadon's forhead, this game they did nothing. Which means that the stegadon and froggy lived. So, his big stuff lived. So did mine. VPs? 664 to 665. I win by one point, so it was a draw. Very challenging game. Most of the center was occupied with manuvering for charge position. I was trying to keep my night goblins away from his sauruses, but charge them with my huge regiment of regular gobbos. He was trying to charge the night gobbos while avoiding the regulars. Frustrating for both of us, who couldn't deliver the final blow to the other. Next game? Undead. Great. Gobbos love fear tests. ;) |
