OSAKA CASTLE (Osaka-jo), Osaka, Japan.

Built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, this was once the largest castle in Japan and was considered
impregnable. It eventually fell to Tokugawa forces and became a main headquarters for the
Tokugawa Shogunate. Destoyed by fire, it has since been replaced by a ferro-concrete
replica. The flat base nearby was once the foundation for the castle's subsidiary palaces
and other structures, which have all been lost.
