December 2001
Had a great two weeks with Robin and Graham. We sailed up to Bequia and back, visiting all the old haunts along the way. It was the only time they had been back since we left in 1979 so it was really special for all of us. It was like being kids again. It went all to quickly!
October 2001
Headed back to Trinidad at the end of the month where my boat had been in the yard for 18 months. Spent a busy month working on her. Got up to Grenada just in time for my siblings, Robin and Graham to arrive for a two week holiday. I had been talking about selling the boat which spurred them into getting down here for a visit. They were very lucky to have understanding spouses to look after all the kids.
Summer 2001
Spent these months paragliding, I flew
almost every day. Competed in the Lumby Fly In in the interior of
BC. My first competition. It was a heck of a lot of fun. Got up
to almost 10,000ft and flew about 40km I think. Spent the whole
of July down in Victoria, flying with my friends at the local
sites, staying with my girlfriend. Most days you would find me
down at Dallas road, the cliff top seabreeze site, hanging out in
my van, playing guitar, waiting for the breeze to set up. Went a
trip in the van with Sasza in July to the West coast of the
island and explored for a couple weeks. Bashed about on the back
roads and got to some pretty neat places.

Just got back from ten days in Victoria in my VW camper. Did a lot of flying - have a look at the latest news section of http://www.islandsoaring.com for details, pictures and videos of that. I'll head off to the interior at the end of the week to go to the Lumby flyin.
April 2001
I went back to the UK for a month to visit family and friends. Stayed in London for a while and drank lots of good beer. Went back to Prague for the first time since I left three and a half years ago. Stayed with my friend Marco and had a great time but little sleep. Prague is as lovely as ever.

There was me, thinking I'd be heading back to my boat in Trinidad, and Melt leads me astray again, this time suggesting a trip to Mexico for three weeks. I couldn't say no. I'm really behind in these updates so they will be brief - it's now May! We drove down to Baja and did some great ridge soaring on Cotes cliffs near Colonet. We were camped right on the cliff in one spot, so we could launch right there when the wind came in the morning. The food was excellent in Mexico and that Corona goes down well. We had an awesome day of thermaling at Marshall on the way back. |
