DIANA WITH WOLFHOUNDS (left) Harriett W. Frishmuth 1880-1980, American Bronze 1921 Represented is the
Greco-Roman fertility and wood goddess, Diana, shown leaping above two running dogs. She
carries her attribute, the bow. Pedestal is Italian green marble. Hand carved wood figure, in the Italian 15th
century style, was covered in gesso and then gold leaf. Type of statue made out of wood
instead of marble for a niche in a church. Pedestal is Italian green marble. |
