The National Examiner, Sept 21, 1999 issue

The Backstreet Boys are the most popular heartthrobs on the planet, but they've managed to keep their love lives under wraps-until now!

The EXAMINER has uncovered some sizzling secrets about the hunky singers who made music history by selling 1.13 million copies of their Millennium album in its first week-and nearly 5 million to date.

Our sneek peek into the guys' private lives beings with BRIAN LITTRELL, 24, also known as B-Rok.

"Brian is the most romantic guy ever," former galpal Samantha, 23, confiders to The EXAMINER in an exclusive interview. "We met when he moved to Orlando, Flordia. I was singing with AJ McLean, another Backstreet member, at Osceola High School, and he introduced us.

"When I left for college, Brian would send me flowers. I would walk out of class and there would be roses and love letters waiting for me outside.

"He was the perfect boyfriend and a great kisser. I traveled all around the world with the group. It was stressful at times with all the fans, but we had tremendous trust for each other, and Brian always assured me I was the only one.

"We did a lot of typical things, like going to the movies. He also loved hanging out with my parents and we even bought a car together."

But dating a famous singing sensation wasn't all hearts and flowers, says Samantha, a pharmaceutical sales student and author of the upcoming book What You Wanna Know: Backstreet Boys Sectrets Only A Girlfriend Can Tell (St. Martin's Press).

"One time, I got sick for almost a week on the road and their manager refused to take me to the hospital because then the whole girlfriend thing would get exposed," she says.

"They never wanted the fans to find out that the boys had girlfriends.

"But we parted on good terms. We broke up only because we turned into two different people. We were together between the ages of 17 and 21, and a person can change alot in that time."

Samantha has bounced back with a new love, and Brian is currently dating actress Leighanne Wallace.
