Dog Song

This morning sees the sun come up on my neighborhood where I'm still a pup.
It's a crazy world, the animals all try and act like they're really tough.
It's dog eat dog but what about the few of us who could live without
All the barking, growling attitudes that make my doubt for the canine race.

(Chorus)
The situation's looking grave 'cause the people won't make their dogs behave,
The big one's all run the street.
The situation's not so good 'cause there's twenty dogs in my neighborhood,
And only one piece of meat.

It hasn't always been this way, there were better times, there were better days
When the animals all roamed the street and the dogs and cats all knew their place.
Harder times are getting near, there's territories marked everywhere
And no self-respecting mutt can walk the streets anymore and be free from fear.

(Chorus)

My old man's seen better days, he's got ticks and fleas and he never chases his tail no more.
I guess the rat-race makes him forget how to run and play.
Speaking of rats, there's a gang of field mice with no respect and they're never nice.
They used to be afraid of us but they turned out to be such an awful vice.

(Chorus)
