So You Think You Know
Well, lots of books have been written about HIM, but I could not find an interesting, exhaustive biography yet. No psychological analysis, no introspection, as if He had not been a tridimensional person. Yes, the more recent biographies try to describe the Man behind the scene, but, I am afraid, His Ultimate Biography will keep us waiting for a long time.
Needless to say, I have collected more than 60 books about the Man and the Band, but I'd retrieve just a few of them

You can read my review of this book on other pages on the Net.
I DID hate this one since I read it for the first time.
You can understand what Mrs. Jackson thinks of Him by reading the first pages:
How scandalous his life has been!
David Bret, Robson Books LTD, UK, 1996, ISBN 1-86105-054-2

Most of the facts you'll read on this book are well known.
However, Mr. Bret has been the first Author to underline the importance of Freddie's childhood.
I can't deny that I got upset by reading what happened to Him at Boarding School, according to evidence of his schoolmates.
Though He later claimed it was a pretty little affair, his friends remember a different story.
They report that Freddie's 'first lover' was an older, unpleasent guy, nicknamed the Master for his brutal ways, and that he effectively raped Freddie.
Maurizio Becker, Alpi Editori, Italy, 1996

Freddie's sexuality seems to be the most interesting topic here.
Leslie-Ann Jones, Hodder & Stoughton, UK, 1997, ISBN 1-86105-054-2

The best biography ever written up to now.
Wonderful unseen pictures!
To be honest, Mrs. Jones doesn't go into details when it comes to his final years.
She seems to rush away.
I wish I could have read something deeper: how did Freddie come to terms with his undeserved fate?
Perhaps, we'll have to wait for Feebie or Mary to write the real story...

The reader has the task to solve some riddles.
Although this book may be considered as a supernatural view of Freddie's life, the Author is of some merit because makes the effort to investigate the causes of His behaviour through a psychological approach.
I think that the more you read
INNUENDOES, the more of this will come to light. It really depends on
which angle you read the book from - A story, within a story, within a
story...

Unmissable!
"By undertaking this project, I find I have a responsability to be as truthful as I can in portraying what Freddie went through both as an artist and as a man. I want to show that there was much more to Freddie than has been written about until now"
Thanks a lot, Mister Freestone! We do need this kind of books.

No Freddie contents.
However, I could not miss the inscription:
'I dedicate this book to an old buddy from Ealing School of Art, Freddie Mercury.

We miss you, Fred'
Thanks a lot, Mr. Rankin!

Mr. Pike considers Freddie an overrated musician and writes that Queen was not that good.
An hyphen group if ever there was one, are his words.
Even Freddie's death caused too much sensation:
'having (Freddie) never really come out of the closet, no doubt for highly defendable commercial reasons'.
A bit homophobic, Mr. Pike?

Here comes another judge by divine right!
'Mercury's fantasy was to be isolated by the everyday, to live an illusion of total freedom in his private babylon and to pursue through promiscuity the dream of a perfect sexual consumerism. He didn't appear to understand the risks, and fame, wealth and isolation cultivated an illusion of untouchability. When his disease was diagnosed as AIDS he retreated into almost total seclusion, unable to let the world know until two days before he died. It is somehow a perfect metaphor for all that's wrong in rock'n'roll'.
Bigoted or homophobic? Both...

Freddie comes only 90th but....
'These people have signaled who we were, who we might one day be. Their example has answered the world's calumny, has put the lies and stereotypes to rout, has enhanced our sense of possibility.'

Collective biographies - Juvenile Literature.
I found this book by chance, to be honest, just surfing a website of Medical News about AIDS.
Doreen Gonzales explores the lives and accomplishments of ten men and women who rose to prominence and used their abilities to change the lives of millions of others.
'Some people say there is a quality that a few people are born with that sets them apart from the rest of the world. This quality often appears at an early age and is what makes them stars - stars like rock musician Freddie Mercury.'
Thanks, thanks, Mrs. Gonzales, thanks for a number of reasons...
- For acknowledging his unique talent
- For understanding his courage, He was very brave, thus facing his final moments alone, not making death into a public scar.
- For showing Him as a role-model for American Youth.
His was a true story of courage, which He did leave us as a legacy.

The Cult of Death in Rock'n'Roll - The Author writes: 'Freddie Mercury was dead, but despite heartbreak, he'd gone out in breathtaking style. Which was exactly the way he had lived.'
Thanks, Mr Thompson.

whose memory will live in my heart forever
