The Great Gildersleeve Film Series

Gildersleeve On Broadway

1943

3rd of the Gildersleeve Pictures

Plot occurs mostly in New York, not Summerfield.

Leroy and Marjorie have minor roles in the plot throughout the film.

This cute little girl with eyes for Leroy had the mischievious look I expected Leroy to have.

We see Birdie briefly at the beginning only.

We get to see Gildy in his Air Raid Warden’s outfit!

Gildy orders a big breakfast but cuts back a little.

Mr. Peavey’s all cleaned up and looking better.

He’s got a major role in the picture.

Gildy’s love interest, Matilda checks up on him and as usual, Gildy’s in the soup.

Hey! There’s Ken Christy (Radio’s Chief Gates) as a police Lieutenant trying to settle a dispute over a fur coat.

Walter Tetley plays a bellhop in a short but amusing segment.  It’s great to see and hear him on screen.

Tetley gives Gildy advice on getting a girl’s interest.

Gildy and “wife” Jennifer (Peavy in drag) and the wonderful Billie Burke.

At the end, Gildy’s out of the fire and into the frying pan.

He signs off with his signature “ Good night, folks!”

That’s all, folks!
