Kurt Cobain is one of my most faviort people, He's also my biggested
insperation. I relate to alot of his words. I have alot of the same
backgrounds as kurt. He was the reason that I bought my first giutar at. It
was a sham that he took his life, because the one thing I ever wanted to do
when I was 12 or 13 was see them live. I had tickets, but my mom said I was
to young.
The first time I herd Nirvana, was unexpected. I ordered a Mudhoney CD
from Sub Pop. They sent the wrong CD in the mail. They sent me Bleach. So
I put in my CD player and started listening. I fell in love with there
sound, and have been listening ever since.
My faviort songs are, Blew, Negative Creep, Swamp Meet, Aneurysm, Stain,
Dive, Friendly Unit Shifter, and Rape Me.

First nirvana song that i've heard was heart-shaped box,it was before
kurt died, and i tought it's junk,i tought it because rest of people
around me make me so,everybody talked about nirvana as a fuckin' shit,so
i tought so,next time i heard nirvana song was when i was 12,it was
exactly the same week in the april, but year after kurt died,i've heard
the man who sold the world, and i realy liked it,then i found that on the
7th of april (of course) there is a lot of stuff about nirvana on the
mtv,and i recorded unplugged in ny on my video cassette, and since then
i'm great nirvana fun,i dont care anymore what are the people around me
say about my "weird music taste",my favourite songi is (still) the man
who sold the world, and for all nirvana funs:"it's better to burn out
than to fade away"

Well being 11 at the time Nevermind came out, rather than being caught up
with the Nirvana buzz I was content to playing with my action men figures,
so I missed the Nevermind peroid, then when Heart- Shaped Box was first
released in Europe I accidently tuned into the radio half way through it
being played and I thought it was the best song I ever heard, but the DJ
never said who it was by at the end, he must of said everything before he
played it, at the time I never liked music, I was just one of these kids
that just played video games and watched wrestling all day....anyway for
weeks, months it bugged me as to who that song was by, and then I saw on
MTV news some rock star who took his life, well this was to be my thought
at the time.....and as a tribute they played the Heart Shaped Box Video,
even though I went for months going without knowing who that song was by
and my misery was finally found out in the cruelest way possible.
From then that day no doubt changed me, u know usual story stopped watching
wrestling, put down Sonic the Hedgehog and brought all the Nirvana CD's,
got all the rare stuff, turn into a hippi......blah blah etc etc......
Fav songs r everything off the In Utero album and Unplugged Set especially
Milk it, All Apologies, Man Who Sold the World and Plateau..I'm also like
the Bleach tracks on the Wishkah album, they sound so much better on it,
maybe it's the excellent drumming of Dave Grohl that added the extra
dimention?????? and I like rarities like Verse, Chorus, Verse, Talk To Me,
On A Mountain and The Money Will Roll Right In. But my favourite song is
still Heart Shaped Box, I just can't describe how much I love that song, I
must still listen to it 10 times a day...really!!!!

For who ever who is reading this u will think i am a joke. i got in to
nirvana after kurt died. i was sitting on the sofa with my brother who
was taping "a stupid band on the ABC" during one of the adds on the show
i was watching i flicked over and saw kurt playing. what drew me to keep
watching was he looked like no other rock star i had seen. i sat and
listened and was imedietly converted. i went out and bought unplugged
then nevermind, bleach, in utero, incesticide and finaly the muddy
banks. now people use music as a social status and if u say to somebody
u like nirvana they will dismis u with a laugh. i really like nirvana
and have been a great to me as they have taught me true values and have
given me something to think about. i would have to say my favourite song
at the moment is in his hands but these favourites change regularly. i
sure i am boring u so i will go.

I "discovered" NIRVANA after KURDT died (sad huh?). but I was in fourth
grade when he died just like BRETT. so i guess we're the same age (cool).
I remember when kurt died. My dad told me he died and I didn't realy know
who he was (exept from just SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT and COME AS YOU ARE
about a million times on the radio. and i remember liking it and singing
a long useing completely all the wrong lyrics. but i was ro stupid to get
into it.) but for some reason i started to cry wich is realy weird. i
think I remember going on the internet with my dad because we just
recently got hooked up to it. and we looked at like all the millions of
pages mourning. it was sad. And i'm realy upset i didn't like them before
he died. maybe my dad could have taken me to a concert or omething. i'm
realy upset that he died.

I learned about nirvana when an older friend bought nevermind in 91. He
asked me if I wanted to listen. I thought that this was awesome stuff. I
saved money to buy it. To this day I own 6 of thier albums. Currently
i'm trying to find the outcestide albums.

Would you believe that I only discovered Nirvana this summer? Talk
about bad timing! I find out I like their songs more than three years
after they're gone. If that's not bad luck you can just push me off a
cliff. I'm still trying to learn more about them and their songs. I've
listened to three of their songs (Come as You Are, Smells Like Teen
Spirit, Lithium) so far and like them all. I plan on getting Nevermind
sometime when I have the money. It's such a shame they're not around
anymore, but all good things must come to an end. Their end just came
too early, especially for Kurt.

I first heard Nirvana on the radio in the car when Nevermind came out. I
loved the songs, so I rushed out to purchace the tape (I did not have a cd
player then), and that is all that I would listen to. My favorite songs on
the album were "Lounge Act" and "On A Plain" (only 2 people I knew liked
Nirvana, so I tended to listen to the entire tape instead of just the
"popular" songs). People made fun of me because most of them had never heard
or heard of a band just starting to make a name for itself called Nirvana
(most of them did not even like music because I was in a very low grade at
the time, 3rd or 4th). Gradually I moved away from Nevermind, and turned to
thier debut album, Bleach. I loved this tape even more than Nevermind,
especially the songs "Big Cheese" and "Blew". Soon, Incesticide came out. I
bought it the day it came out. I was not as happy with this tape as the
first two, but I still liked it, and loved the songs "(New Wave) Polly" and
"Dive". In Utero came out, and I purchaced it right away. I loved the songs
"Very Ape", "Dumb", and "Milk It". Kurt then took his own life, and Nirvana
became hugely popular (they were semi-popular at the release of In Utero).
Unplugged In New York soon came out, and I purchased this cd (I finally got
a cd player). I loved the songs "Pleatu" and "The Man Who Sold The World".
By now almost everyone in my grade (6th) had all the main albums but
Incesticide and Bleach. The next year, theings had died down on Nirvana,
there were the three REAL fans, and a handfull of those annoying people who
just like "Lithium", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and "All Apologies". Now, I
was getting into imports and bootlegs. My favorite bootleg is Outcesticide,
and my favorite rare songs are "Sappy" and "Help Me" By 8th grade when From
the Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah was released only about 5 people Nirvana. I
thought this cd had excellent versions of "Polly" and "Milk It". Now it is
the summer after 8th grade, and I have almost 30 nirvana cds. Nirvana is
pritty much all that I listen to, besides Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nine Inch
Nails, and Foo Fighters. I plan to purchace the Sweet 75 cd when it comes
out. I don't think that Kurt is a god, just an excellent person with talent
that he shared to make the world a better place.
thank you for your time,

I just want to say that it's kind of depressing to see that people are
still so deeply depressed about the death of Kurt Cobain.. don't get me
wrong please,.. i'm a big nirvana fan and i cried my eyeballs out when he
killed himself.. and i've been depressed for a long time after.. but it's
been already 3 years now.... anyway, hang in there, stay alive.

bEFORE NEVERMIND WAS REALEASED,I HAD A BABY SITTER WHO WAS INTO EARLY
ALTERNATIVE MUSIC. SHE MADE ME TAPES OF SONIC YOUTH,RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS AND
STUFF LIKE THAT. ONE DAY,SHE GOT THIS BLANK TAPE AND A FRIEND OF HERS MADE
HER A COPY OF THIS ALBUM CALLED BLEACH. THAT NIGHT,I WENT OVER AND SHE PLAYED
IT FOR ME. I WAS ONLY NINE SO I DIDN'T QUITE APPRECIATE IT LIKE A FAN,BUT SHE
LOVED THE TAPE. I HEARD IT ALL THE TIME. WHEN NEVERMIND CAME OUT,I BOUGHT
IT(WELL, ACTUALLY A FRIEND MADE ME A TAPE OF IT) I LOVED IT,IT REALLY
EXCITED ME AND I EVENTUALLY WORE OUT THE TAPE.BUT WHEN I BROUGHT IT OVER TO
SARAH(MY BABAYSITTER),SHE TOLD ME IT WAS THE SAME BAND ON HER BLEACH TAPE. I
WAS A LITTLE SHOCKED, BUT I LISTENED TO BLEACH ON MY OWN AFTER I FOUND THIS
OUT. NOW, I'M 16, I HAVE ALL DOMESTIC CD'S AND MANY IMPORTS. KURT COBAIN'S
DEATH AFFECTED ME AT THE TIME, BUT I DON'T (NEVER DID) WORSHIP HIM AS A GOD
,LIKE MOST OF THESE LITTLE PRICKS. OH WELL. ANYWAY, NIRVANA IS MY FAVORITE
BAND. E-MAIL ME AFTER YOU READ THIS (IF YOU HAVE THE TIME) THANKS,

It seemed as though I liked Nirvana when no one did. I was maybe nine or ten
years old when I bought my first Nirvana cd. It was bleach and I remember
everyone in my class making fun of me because I liked nirvana (a weird band).
But the ways Kurt screemed the lyrics and the feeling he put into it made you
want to keep listening. The notes were so simple like a childrens song, yet
so easy to understand like a child memorizes a kids song on barney. Sooner or
later everyone started to like em. And soon after that everyone clamed that
they had "discovered nirvana." When I had like em all along. My favorite song
is "tourettes." My least favorite song is "Heart Shaped Box."

In 1992, I was 13. That is when I first saw Nirvana play. It was the
1992 MTV Music Awards. They played Lithium. I was a member of the BMG
Music Club and I immediately ordered Nevermind. I don't know how I knew
that the band was called Nirvana but I knew the name and was determined
to get the CD. When I got it, I played for 5 days before it was stolen.
I bought it again. In later years I got one In Utero stolen, and one
Incesticide stolen. The In Utero was replaced by the Import with
"Gallons" and I bought another Incesticide. Then, I heard my first
bootleg... I have paid so much money on Nirvana stuff and so has
everybody else. I wish people would quit telling me to get over it.
I've been hearing it for 3 years. If they ever come out with a shirt
that says "Kurt's Dead!" and the back says "Get Over It!" I would hit
whoever wore it. You can't just get over it. For me, it's not humanly
possible. I've loved Nirvana for 5 years now. It's like an addiction.
It's probably the same to you guys.

In my own personal opinion, Kurt was cool. there's no good word i can think
of right now. he was real. one thing that pisses me off is that there is no
real investigation as to who killed him. he wasn't quite ready to go. it
was all a conspiracy.
his music brought me to life and somehow i'm still here through all the crap.
I would like to thank him, where ever he is.

I found Nirvana in 1990 when a friend of mine from Tacoma let me hear
"bleach" for the first time and the eletric version of "about a girl"
has been my favorite ever since because of how I can relate to the
almost obssesiveness of the girl over him. It really makes me sad how
the preps took over them and paraded around in there little Kurt shirts
not realizing how big of a tragic it was and how greatly he is missed.
It also sucks how all my friends now listen to punk and when i quote a
song I'm looked at funny. But as kurt said "they will die and we will
move into there homes. please write back with input

My favorite Nirvana song has got to be "In His Room." Cause let's face
it, it kicks some raw monkey. But I just recently heard it on the net and
still haven't heard the whole thing. It was one of those things where you
have the guitar next to you and you hear a song and you learn it and then
you loose the song so all you can do is play it yourself... but you have a
bad amp. Or something along those lines. Another song that I love by Nirvana
is "Verse, Chorus, Verse." I heard that one on the radio while I was in a
deathmatch w/ someone in Doom2. The guy was almost as much a Nirvana freak
as me. I remember I was sittin' there loosing 7-3 and all-of-a-sudden I hear
"And if you save yourself...." and start freakin' out typing to the guy "OH
SHIT THIS IS NIRVANA!!!" And he has no idea what i'm talkin about and then
next thing I know... the songs over and I'm winning 10-8 and I'm all pissed
off cause it's over. So I drop carrier on the game and call the station and
ask them what it was and they told me. And now ever time I hear the song I
realize that there's no more Kurt Cobain but the stuff still kicks ass.
And this is how I first found out about Nirvana... I was sitting in a
babysitters house playing Super Mario Bros. 2 when I died (I'm terrible at
video games) so the sitter started watching MTV and this song comes on. Now
this is back in '89 I think when I was goin through an Oldies phase so I
started spazzin out cause I wanted to watch Sessamie Street or something and
I though the video sucked cause it was just a bunch of people jumpin around
watchin some crap band in a gym w/ cheerleaders. And now Nirvana's my
all-time favorite band.... Go figure.
Well that's enough crap. If you want to give me any cool stuff I would
greately appreciate it. My address is [email protected]. Later.

Sad to say, but I have been a NIRVANA fan ever since I first heard
Smells Like Teen Spirit. It was at a junior high dance. I didn't know how to
dance, so I just stood around. It was like a love dance-type thing. Then
NIRVANA was played. I loved it, and couldn't stop jumping around!!!! I was
moshing into everybody before I even knew there was such a thing. NIRVANA was
always put down, due to everybody still like Motley Crue and etc. I was
afraid to show it. I didn't care my freshman year. That's when I really
listened to their stuff.
Kurt's death really hit me. Still, even in high school, music like
NIRVANA wasn't tolerated or liked. I wore black on that day. Everybody
wondered why. I didn't care what they thought, and what they thought of me. I
didn't (and don't) care for much people in my old school. They were fools.
His death was a tragedy, but it made people open their eyes, and think about
the things that Kurt talked about. It's been 3 years, and Kurt still lives in
my soul, and therefore, I live with Kurt.

I first discovered Nirvana when I saw something on the news about a man
that was put into a drug rehab and i started paying attention to what they
where saying and I said "hey, i've heard that name somewhere before." Then,
I just started listening to their music. The first song I heard from them
was "Smell's like Teen Spirit". My favorite song by Kurt is "Lithium"
because it really moves me. When I heard about Kurt's death I had just
really started listening to his music, and the day I found out, I can sware
to you, I cried for three days. And to this very day, it is still a very
sad experience for me.

hey! my name is mark and i'm in florida, usa. my favorite nirvana songs are:
d-7 blandest gallons of rubbing alcahol flow through the strip moist
vagina oh, the guilt in his room help me, i'm hungry
i'm sure that there are more, but this is all that i can think of right now.
i first heard about nirvana when kurt O.D.'d in rome. i didn't really listen to
them until after he was killed ("murder?" you ask. go here to decide for
yourself....http://websites.earthlink.net/~tomgrant/). since then i've collected
everything on nirvana that i possibly could. my room is wallpapered in about a
hundred different nirvana pictures and posters. i've also got quite a large
collection of nirvana imported cd's. i started making a web page around the end
of january, 97. if you want to check it out, go

Hi, well i only started listening to nirvana after Kurt Cobain died,
unfortunately, which wasn't very long ago, maybe a year or two, which
really depresses me as i know i'll never get to go to one of their
concerts or meet them or anything, not even get a poster of them in one
of those magazines which only print stuff on the latest bands.
What made me start listening to nirvana was silverchair in fact. After
everyone was saying they were like trying to be nirvana as their both
a three piece band and stuff, i thought i just have to hear nirvana, and
people at school liked it too, so i just went out and brought the tape
in utero, without even having listened to one of their songs, and i
abosoultely loved it. it was much better than any of silverchairs
songs, and i still listen to it frequently. later on i then brought
their From the muddy banks of wishka, tape, which was all live and stuff
and that was pretty good too as it had songs i hadn't heard before,
but i'd heard smells like teenage spirit before on the radio, which was
one of the reasons i brought it, it had that song, and so, yeah.
Well, my aim in life now is to maybe form my own rock band, like
nirvana, same kind of music and stuff. i play guitar and am learning
some of nirvana's songs, but i'm not that good and i can't find any one
else to play with me. I still wonder what also happened to the other
guys from nirvana, the bass and drum player, when kurt died? did they
just go into other bands or something?
My favorite songs on nirvana are Heart Shaped Box, Sliver, Milk it,
School and Lithium, though i really like them all. One song i would
really like to hear, which i haven't heard to whole of yet, is Come as
You are, but i don't have enough money to buy Nevermind, i've spent it
all on other music and stuff, so i guess i'll just have to wait.

died. i think NIRVANA is the best music group ever.

Personally i started listening to Nirvana around 5 or 6 years ago?, i think i was in grade 10, i heard 'Teen Spirit ' for the first time and though that it was OK!!... then i saw the music video and i hated it, i don't no why to this day, maybe it was the head banging :).. but then i heard a 'Come as you Are' Midi file (I can't believe i started listening to Nirvana from a Midi File), but it was fuck'n excellent, the next day i got the CD and was totally blown away, the thing that impressed me was that every song on that CD was a classic, i than came across a few bootlegs with some songs from 'Bleach' those songs rocked as well, i than got Bleach, it progressed from there i think, sadly i used to live in the outback of Australia when Nirvana came to town, i lived 1000ks (2 days drive! plus i was too young :) from where they were playing (Festival Hall, Brisbane Jan/Feb 92?).
I was very disappointed but i have met a few people who actually went to the concerts both in Brisbane and the Gold Coast's Fisherman's Wharf, a friend who went said he could see Nirvana in a BUS behind the stage, when they came out on stage Kurt was very white and frail!, maybe the drugs, who knows!..
Even now i still listen to Nirvana there's an attraction to their music i can't get away from!. I just wish one day they will release all of Kurt's unreleased songs, like Clean up before she comes, Help Me Im Hungry, On the Mountain, In his Room there all amazing songs.. they should have enough material for a double-cd, all we can do is hope!, and buy overly expensive bootleg's.
My favorite songs would have to be Polly, Very Ape, Verse Chorus Verse, In His Room, Negative Creep, tourette's etc. etc... i can't really say i hate any of Nirvana's songs they are all brilliant, but for some reason i never ever listen to 'Scentless Apprentice' i always skip it, i don't now why?.

Hi, I'm from Austalia, man its hot here right now, anyway I was about 8
or 9 when I first heared nirvana, it was a friend who was into them and
he gave me a taped-copy of Bleach even though nevermind was going no.1
all over the country, so I listened to it and it was the best music I
had ever heared in my life, my favorite songs from bleach were- Floyd
the Barber, Paper cuts, and Negative Creep. Then he gave me nevermind,
which had a bit more power- I was an instant freak and to this day I buy
any good bootlegs I can find- which are very rare in Australia.
Nirvana influenced me so much I decided to pick up a guitar. Playing
guitar is my absolute favorite thing to do, I play at least 5 hours a
day.
I'm in a Punk Rock band right now......Hey theres another thing, Nirvana
turned me onto punk rock and grunge, the only good music around right
now, well thats my opinion anyway.
There never was and never will be a band better than Nivana, I dont know
why, I dont know about anyone else, but I think Bush are nirvana
wannabees, sorry if I offended any bush fans.
My favorite nirvana songs are- Sifting, Oh the Guilt, and the Landlord.
Bo bye-------Simon, the junkie.

Lets see my favorite songs by Nirvana are Polly, Negative Creep, and On
a Plain. My Favorite album is a tie between Nevermind and Bleach. I
didn't like nirvana when they became popular although I didn't DISLIKE
them. I used to be be heavily into rap and R&B and shit like that.
Then the red hot chili peppers turned me on to rock music. Later when
Incesticide came out (that was the first nirvana album I ever bought) I
was turned on by nirvana. The reason I bought Incesticide is because
nobody had it, they just had nevermind. Well I loved it and then bought
bleach. After I bought bleach I was a full fleged Nirvana junkie.
Their music was just fucking awesome, I virtually quit listening to Rap
and R&B. The third album I bought was In Utero. Another fucking awsome
album. I was the first person in town to have Unplugged (I hooked my
stereo up to my Tv and recorded it.) Everybody nirvana fan in town was
asking me to copy it for them. Then kurt killed himself and I fially
decided to get nevermind. I don't know why I never got it in the first
place, but I just didn't. Well thats it. my nirvana story.

I first heard Nirvana when I was a senior in high school. They came out at
the right time, as all other music sucked those years (90-91). It was
about time some one came in and kicked some ass. I never got to see them
live, I wish I had but the Army kept me pretty busy back then. After Kurt
killed himself, I got real pissed and depressed, I couldn't listen to
Nirvana for almost two years! After the last live album, I have become a
major fan again. With all the dance and techno shit that everyone is
listening to today, we need Nirvana more than ever! The best songs by far
are Silver, Drain You, Negative Creep and Aneurysm.

How can you say a best and worst Nirvana song? No two songs were the
same, and all had something to offer that the others didn't. Theres the
ones that show great song writing like "Polly", "Smells Like Teen
Sprit", and "Serve the Servants". But there are also songs that show
the true punk side to Nirvana like Torettes. And then there are those
songs that arn't written very well but still are great songs. The song
"School" is only about 15 words but the way Kurt sings it, it doesn't
seem like 15 words. Sliver is the same way, super-repetive but is still
a masterpeice.
Just my opinion

I started totally liking Nirvana only about a year ago. I always liked
what I heard of theirs before then but I wasn't into music before a while
ago. I'm only a freshman in highschool right now so that might explain why
it took me so long to get into Nirvana. I have to say I was always really
interested in Kurt before I even new much about him or his music for some
reason. But anyway I got myself into Nirvana on my own, since I'm from a
small town where it's not the "normal" music for someone to like. Like
some other people have said, it's not easy to pick favorites by Nirvana,
but I have to say "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter", "Aneurysm", and "Paper
Cuts" are a few songs I really like, along with the usual "Drain You",
"Lithium", "Heart-Shaped Box", and "All Apolgies".
