Blue Hill Bay Light

President Franklin Pierce ordered
this lighthouse to built in 1857
to guide mariners into
Eggemoggin Reach.
It is on the western side
of Green Island,
one of the four islands
called Fly or Flye Islands,
near the town of Brooklin,Maine.
It is often referred to as
Eggemoggin Light.
The keeper's house is a
colonial cape and was connected
to the tower by a brick passageway.
There was also a barn,
an outhouse and a boathouse.
Added in 1905 was an oil house
and a fourth order Fresnel lens.
The lighthouse was discontinued in 1933
and replaced in 1935 with an
automatic light on a skeleton tower.
Now privately owned,the outbuildings
and property have been restored.
