| Family Reunion 2002 | ||||||||||||
| The family reunion will be nice but it usually runs a bit long for me...mainly because Ron is off fishing and I fend for myself and take care of the kids. It will be especially hard because of not having had any recooperation time from all the drama going on. I hope to make it productive and worthwhile this time. I must say, I do have alot to think about and rather than being bored, I hope to use my time really thinking out better schedules and checks and balances for my main life concerns. For one, my web page could actually be made useful if I decide on an update-able format to keep me from neglecting areas of importance. This was the goal of my first web page, five long years ago. I started ok, got really interested in it, then settled into just working on journal pages and leaving everything else to rot. The number one goal of this reunion will be to reunite with my family, however. I hope to spend alot of quality time with Zack especially, working on writing, cub scout badges, and photography. The biggest undertaking for this week is to get SOME kind of normalcy back into my life and routine. For the past month, I have had incredible insomnia, even after my 19 hour work day on the 5th, driving time included. I've been drinking tons of caffiene - regular cokes instead of diet to top it off - to cover for lack of sleep and to feed into the insomnia cycle as much as possible. Fatter and fatter. No time for exercise or eating right. No time for drinking water or eating breakfast. No time to think. 6-9-02 Reunion was extremely hot but sort of nice...at first. I didn't get there until 12:30 pm on Saturday and all the kids were swimming at the other side of the lake. At 2:30 or so, I called to check on D and he is hurting more and still bad...going to the dr. Monday again and the cycle will start again. Everything else was going pretty well aside from Zack being bored to tears, until we heard sirens around 8 or 8:30 pm. In less than an hour, the lake was swarming with search boats and the roads with police cars. The girls said they had heard a girl scream. After stories from "Someone got ran over by a boat" to "Kids were fighting" to "Two kids were messing around on a boat", the concensus became that a former sheriff (uncle to the campers next to us) had jumped off a party boat for some reason, and never came back up. We tried to go to bed around 10 but when the helicopter came with the spotlights, I knew it wasn't gonna work for me and got back up along with the other families. My bunch stayed in. We finally went back to try to sleep around 2 but I was up again around 2:45 and Zack and I got up at 4:30 and drove to the bathroom. Search boats were still on the water. We're all fairly puzzled by the search parameters. It seemed that the incident took place straight out from our camping spot. When they do focus on a spot, that seems to be the focal point. But they are also dragging and spotlighting the complete opposite end of the lake. It seems slightly wasteful of the search effort without much of a current. Needless to say, insomnia continues. I watched the sun come out but it wasn't much of a sunrise. Went back to bed 7:15 til 9:15 after 5 people came to notify me that breakfast was almost ready and then that it was ready. Helped pack up camp and then went to the pavillion for the raffles. Dakota got a kite and set of water guns, I got a pouch that attaches to a belt and a keychain calculator, and Zack got a Billy Big Mouth Bass. Three times, we had 10-15 minute downpours with the sun shining brightly. When we left at 2pm, they were still dragging the lake. Now the story is that he went in 50-75 yards from the fishing pier which is on the other end of the lake from where we camped. The resuce team is set up where the guy's family had been camping next to us. Coming home, we saw two clouds that looked like the beginning of a tornado and my car was pushed almost off the road in one direction and then the next. Then came the blinding rain...only 15 miles or so from home but at the beginning of horrendous road construction. After that...blue skies, bright sunshine, and continued blinding rain. |
